Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review and audit import/export shipments (truck, rail, ocean, air) to ensure customs compliance with various Border Services Agencies (ie. CBSA, US CBP); 
  • Analyze import entries that require corrections and obtain appropriate adjustments/refunds; 
  • Identify, research and analyze compliance issues as they arise;
  • When necessary support the preparation of export documentation for international shipments, including documents relating to credit requirements, export declarations, etc.; 
  • Liaise with Logistics, Customer Service, and regulatory bodies to ensure that product flow meets the demands of the organization; 
  • Evaluate, analyze and assign applicable HS codes to new and existing products; 
  • Research, prepare and submit business cases for advance ruling from various Border Services Agencies (ie. CBSA); 
  • Manage, validate, and process high volume of documentation; ensuring that all legislative requirements are met; 
  • Provide customs expertise to various levels of the corporation; 
  • Work with cross functional projects as Customs subject matter expert when required; 
  • Manage time and prioritize workload

Qualifications
  • >2 years experience in a Customs position; plus  >2 years as an financial or customs auditor role
  • Retail experience
  • Experience working directly with import and export regulations 
  • Extensive knowledge of international trade law regulations and global trade compliance; 
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Knowledge / experience with Customs systems, rulings, CSA 
  • Solid understanding of Valuation, Tariff Treatments, Free Trade Agreements, etc; 
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and communication skill; 
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; 
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment; 
  • Comfortable working toward multiple deadlines.
  • Travel < 10%
  • Office Based in Vancouver and Burnaby (expect to move office to Kitsilano in 2013 0r before)
  • Knowledge of CTPAT and PIP requirements and certification
