Mat is the guy you go to when you want to run farther than you thought possible. He has created a coaching practice and running club in Auckland that helps runners at all levels to get out there and make their goals real.
His earlier career as an HR professional for corporate businesses was about getting the best out of people. Over the years as a dedicated Running Coach, Mat has helped people achieve their running goals while balancing successful working, sporting and family lives. His passion is helping people be the best they can be, removing their doubts so they can be freed up to achieve and succeed.
Mat coaches and competes in distances from half marathon, ultra-distance events and triathlon. His specialty is ultra-distance trail running but he also leads the Les Mills Auckland Road Runners Club where the focus is on getting people through their milestone events.
Some recent highlights for Mat include running the 2010 New York Marathon with his wife, gaining a silver buckle for a sub 14 hour finish in the 2011 NorthFace 100km trail run in the Blue Mountains, finishing fastest in the 2011 Inca Trail Marathon in Peru, and taking part in the 2012 Melbourne Ironman.
