Throughout my life I have played and coached various competitive sports including baseball, basketball, volleyball, hockey, badminton, soccer, and track & field. Twelve years ago, alpine climbing became my main passion. In 2005, I discovered CrossFit. The workouts I did gave me an extra gear and dramatically decreased my recovery time from long alpine climbs. Since then, my climbing has improved dramatically, and I credit CrossFit for enhancing my core strength, and resolving muscular imbalances and chronic injuries. The program has efficiently and effectively increased my preparedness for both endurance and high-intensity activities. Most importantly, CrossFit is super fun!

In the spring of 2010, I decided to open CrossFit Canmore. Since the gym opened it has attracted a strong contingent of committed CrossFitters training up to six days per week. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch members push themselves and strive toward their potential. My wife Kate followed the CrossFit Mom program when she became pregnant and since the birth of our daughter, Kate has been committed to a structured CrossFit program. The obvious benefits inspired me to start a “CrossFit Mums” program to encourage pregnant and postnatal woman to maintain and/or regain core strength and cardiovascular fitness.
