Shane Barnard

Shane has been teaching fitness for 20 years but has been bouncing around her entire life! Her fitness evolution started at a young age with dance and gymnastics followed by horseback riding and softball.

She returned to dance at the age of 17 and danced her way through college studying ballet, pilates, jazz, modern and hip hop and danced with the Briggs Contemporary Dance Company. She was honored when selected to train at the Alvin Ailey Dance Center in NYC and expanded her dance knowledge studying Dunham and Horton techniques.
Upon her return to the west coast she danced with the New Style Motherlode Dance Company and started teaching kickboxing, body toning and conditioning classes at the University of California at Berkeley.

In 2007 she started her own fitness boot camp, UrbanKick and in 2009 she expanded and added UrbanRun, a half and full marathon training program. Shane is continually inspired by movement and enjoys kickboxing, running, (especially mudruns and warrior dashes!) dancing, strength training, horseback riding and the overall sense of happiness movement brings to her life.

Her goal is to share her enthusiasm with her classes and clients and spread the awesome physical and mental benefits that movement can bring to your life. You can find Shane on Facebook at UrbanKick, UrbanRun or Shane's Cardio Kickboxing or at
