Cara Gilman

Sweat and Soul Yoga

Cara Gilman is a 200 hour certified yoga teacher and spin instructor who embodies high energy and optimism. Her motivation stems from the desire to help others feel more connected to themselves in a world where it's challenging to feel present and confident. Cara found yoga, like many do, as a result of pain. As a marathon runner and active athlete, she turned to yoga for the physical benefits—to become stronger and more flexible. However, her practice transformed how she felt in her body and how she approached life. This transformation led Cara to where she is today—teaching yoga and spin classes to individuals of all experience levels. Cara's classes will replenish you from the inside out; guiding you through a challenging, heat building sequence focused on connecting every... Read the profile >>

Daniel Max

JP Centre Yoga

My first experience of yoga was on an island in Thailand in the midst of a two-year backpacking adventure. Through my background in meditation I had developed a sense for observing the inner workings of the mind and body. In my first yoga class I discovered my ability to not only observe, but also create change: to connect to the areas within that felt ‘stuck’ and to engage them in a way that felt profoundly healing. Born in Israel, I came to the U.S. in my early 20s. Here, through my studies, I became certified as a shiatsu practitioner, massage therapist, yoga instructor, and nutrition and health counselor (through The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and The Institute for the Psychology of Eating.) When teaching yoga, my style has evolved into a breath-based vinyasa flow... Read the profile >>

Owen Kendall

Forest Hills Runners

Owen is a writer, runner, triathlete, dancer, and community organizer who is one of the founders of Forest Hills Runners (FHR), a free community running group based in Jamaica Plain. Originally from Vancouver, BC, he grew up in Washington State and Arizona before moving east for college where he played varsity soccer, swam competitively, and began writing seriously. After being told that he could never be a distance runner because he was too big, he started running after college. At first, it was only to stay fit, but he soon realized how much he enjoyed it and also began to enjoy racing. After always running alone (but never with headphones), he joined North Brooklyn Runners (NBR), his first community running group, in 2009 and fell in love with community running. When he moved to...
