Christine found her competitive drive at the early age of 7 when joining the swim team. She continued to swim through college at Arizona State earning All American Honors. In 2006 she decided to give the sport of triathlon a try. On her dad’s old road bike she competed in the Chicago Triathlon. After this first race she was hooked and there was no turning back. She has competed as an elite amateur for five years as part of the Timex Multisport Team. The plan was to step up and race professionally in 2011, but an unfortunate basketball accident prevented this from happening. After 2 surgeries, intensive rehabilitation and physical therapy she is running strong again. Christine was awarded as the female amateur athlete of the year by USA Triathlon federation in 2011. This year she is finally racing as a professional triathlete in 2012, placing 3rd at Leadman 125, her first pro race, held in March.
