Lisa Fierer

Corepower Yoga

A bodybuilding injury in 1999 led Lisa to take her first yoga class, where she discovered that yoga provided the physical and psychological flexibility that she was craving. She found that yoga brought not only physical healing, but also the opportunity for a more meaningful connection with herself and with others. Lisa namely teaches Yoga Sculpt, a discipline that blends yoga with strength training, allowing students to connect with their own inner strengths and abilities. Lisa's classes are opportunities to work hard, laugh hard and (chances are) endure some serious classic 80's tunes. In 2008 she invented 80's Yoga Sculpt, a high-energy blend of yoga sculpt and a raucous 80's dance party. Lisa is also a student of Sanskrit and chant, and is currently completing an 18-month training with Dr. Katyayani Poole in Sanskrit for Yoga Teachers. She is also training with Matthew Sanford in Adaptive Yoga, which makes yoga accessible to people who are differently abled. Lisa teaches yoga at two Detox Centers, bringing the practice to people recovering from substance abuse, and supporting the recovery of body, mind, and spirit. Lisa is also writing and publishing her first book, with the working title, "A Lotus Life" and establishing a healing foundation for children of trauma. When she's not practicing or teaching yoga, you may find Lisa riding her Harley, hiking, snowboarding, or heading out on one of her many travels, as she says; "I'm going exploring!" Her adventures serve as opportunities to take what she learns on the mat out into the world and at the same time, her explorations enhance her teaching.
