With an increased interest in consciousness and Eastern philosophy, Eric found yoga during a month-long experiment with his partner. Dabbling in yoga since 2003, Eric and Julia decided to buy a pass at Moksha Yoga Waterloo. Lifelong interests in athletics and academics (in Cognitive and Quantitative Psychology), led Eric to recognize the ability of yoga in supplementing an ongoing weight-training and meditation practice. However, Eric was unaware regarding the immediacy of yoga's effects on his physical, emotional and mental well-being. He is certified with 800 hours of teacher training. Julia has been "doing" yoga for 9 years but it wasn't until she walked through the doors of a Moksha studio as a physiotherapy student that she really found her practice. She and Eric began practicing regularly upon moving to Kitchener/Waterloo and soon after she realized that this would be her life practice. Julia brings her physiotherapy expertise in manual therapy to the community and is a certified Level I Moksha Yoga teacher (Toronto, 2010). Moksha's many therapeutic benefits quickly became clear to Julia in dealing with her own chronic pain issues stemming from injuries sustained as a competitive figure skater and soccer player in her youth. Sashas' yoga practice deepened after a volunteer mission to India to research the HIV/AIDS epidemic in 2006. She found yogic philosophy was alive everywhere she looked on the sub-continent, and used yoga as a path to healing when she returned home. She is now certified at the 200 hr. level, with additional trainings in Kundalini, YHot and Vinyasa. Through teaching yoga, she hopes to share the profound sense of joy and all-knowingness available to any body through these yogic tools. President of Coast Kinetics, Teresa has over 15 years in the fitness industry. She graduated with honors from Fleming College in Environmental Science and continued on to work towards her Bachelor of Environmental Science at Waterloo but realized her true passion was fitness. She ultimately graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. During her second year at SFU, Teresa suffered an L5/S1 disc herniation training for a marathon. Determined to avoid cortisone injections and surgery, she immersed herself into understanding the mechanics of low back pain.
