"My journey in the fitness industry started when I was rock climbing at an elite level and ended up with posture like a monkey, so I went along to a BodyBalance class with my mum to help my posture. I couldn't believe it could actually be a job to teach fitness and help people become healthier and happier. I became a keen front row participant in group fitness classes for a few months before training to be a BodyBalance instructor. I have since added BodyPump and BodyAttack to the list of classes I teach. Last year I decided to become a personal trainer as I felt the need to be able to assist people on a more personal level to make sure they were achieving their full potential. I love the psychological aspect of personal training that gives me such a strong bond with my clients. I feel... Read the profile >>

'I started with Bikram Yoga in my home country, The Netherlands, because my body was in pain (bad back, osteo arthritis, RSI) and also because I was very depressed at that time in my life. I had read about Bikram in magazines and finally came the day they opened up a studio in my hometown! I went and I HATED the first class. Too hot, didn't like the teacher, too long, too painful, etc etc etc. BUT, the next day? Man I felt awesome! I could actually move my wrist, my spine, my hands and for the first time in a long while my mind felt at ease. So I went back. And never stopped! You could say Bikram has saved my life. I already wanted to go to Bikram Teacher Training when we were still in The Netherlands but thought I'd better wait and save some more money for our big move Down Under.... Read the profile >>
James has been involved with physical training professionally since 2001, when he received the award, Student of Merit, on his Combat Fitness Leaders Course. The following year in 2002 James completed the grueling Tri-Service Physical Training Instructor (PTI) course, and was initiated as a full time PTI with a posting to the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), Canberra, arguably the most demanding posting for a PTI in the Defence Force. During his time as a Defence Force PTI, spanning from October 2002 until June 2007, James literally trained thousands of soldiers, sailors and airmen in a wide range of physical training sessions. James also conducted regular adventure training including the ADFA high wire confidence course, high speed water insertions and abseiling. For a total of... Read the profile >>
'My yoga journey was born out of a time in my life that was very intense. I had a relationship breakdown, a stressful high pressure job, and anxiety. While my background as a personal trainer was helping me stay focused and fit, I felt it wasn’t connecting me to what I really needed, I was looking for something bigger. I had never experienced Power Yoga prior to the Power Living course, and it’s physical nature not only demanded every bit of stamina I had – it taught me to be kind to myself. This opened me up to a new way of being – strong and committed, but open and kind. Since those early days of experiencing yoga I have grown to be even more in love with our style and yoga every day, and the way it makes me think big, live life large, and inspire others to do the same!' I have been a gym junkie since I was 15yrs old, some 33 years ago. I have been dragging all my friends to the gym way back then,as I wanted them to feel what I felt. It was "Lana time", the only place in the world that was all about me. It was my safe place, when my world around me wasn’t that fabulous, the music, the energy of the gym was what kept me going through the many hard times in my life. I loved the way I felt afterwards. I moved to Canberra 10 years ago from Perth and the first thing I did was join a gym. From there it was all about destiny. I befriended a group fitness instructor who encouraged me to become a gym instructor (She actually works for me to this day!). I worked at Fernwood Woden when it was first built and then I took over as Club Manager at Fernwood... Read the profile >>
