Growing up in sports, Lauren always loved being active!
After graduating High School, Lauren went off to college at Washington State University. She began teaching group fitness classes at the local gym and through the University. At the end of her Freshman Year, she tried out for the Cheer/Dance Squad and made it. She loved the athleticism of college athletics and the training provided with the athletic trainers each week. In addition to teaching classes, Lauren was cheering, lifting weights and enjoyed running outdoors.
In her early 20’s Lauren moved back to Seattle and continued teaching group fitness classes and began personal training. This is when Lauren was first introduced to Fitness and Figure competitions. She decided to train and compete in her first Fitness Competition in 2000. Her training consisted of vigorous cardio workouts twice a day for 2 hours, weight training 6 days a week, gymnastics class once a week and posing classes several days a week. Although fitness competitions are an individual sport, she loved training with a team of experienced competitors.
Lauren moved to Los Angeles, shortly after her competitions and had the opportunity to take classes from Billy Blanks who started Tae Bo (one of the first "cardio-boxing" programs). Lauren loved the high energy and intensity of Tae Bo and decided to get certified as an instructor. This was such a popular workout for her clients because it was a fun, intense workout and they acheived amazing results.
In 2008, Lauren decided to compete in her first Figure competitions. She had reconnected with her close friend, Shannon Gill, who is an expert in training fitness and figure competitors. In addition, Lauren worked with the leading nutritionist in the Fitness/Figure industry, Mike Davies. With the best training and nutrition plan, Lauren knew she would be set-up for success. She trained twice a day, as before, but was more confident and committed than back in 2000. Her hard work paid off and she ended up placing 2nd at the Vancouver Classic and 3rd in her class at the Emerald Cup, in Bellevue, WA.
Shortly after her competitions, Lauren moved to San Diego, CA. She has found her new home with her boyfriend, Jeff, and their two dogs, Roxy and Ruby. Lauren received her 200 hour Yoga Alliance Certificate through Yoga Tropics. She currently teaches various yoga classes, including Hot 60 minute flows, Yoga Barre and Yoga Sculpt. Lauren teaches at various studios in North County including Yoga Tropics, Ignite Yoga Fusion, Haute Yoga, Xtend Barre Encinitas and The Bridges of Rancho Sante Fe. She received her Pilates Mat certification through Power Pilates and was certified through Xtend Barre.
In addition to teaching weekly classes, Lauren continues to work one-on-one with clients, holds various workshops on the weekends and is an Ambassador for Lululemon Carlsbad Forum. Lauren is truly grateful to be able to do what she loves. She is passionate about helping others and is dedicated to becoming a leader in the fitness community.
