Susan is a lively and inspirational running coach based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Having taken up running at the age of thirty-five, she understands how to balance training with real life obligations and knows how to transform big dreams into reality.
After completing her first marathon, Susan suddenly realized that she could accomplish anything. She believed in herself and trained with a fierce passion, confident that success would follow. Since lacing up her first pair of running shoes, the 49-year-old has won the U.S. Masters Marathon Championships four times, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic marathon Trials three times, and has taken three consecutive titles at the New York City More Marathon. In her passion for running, Susan has discovered her purpose--inspiring others to make health and fitness an integral part of their lives. Having reached her personal goals, the Elite runner now wants to help others live out their dreams.
In 2012, Susan founded BTB Coaching, which stands for Believe Train Become. She found personal success by combining positivity with scientific training methods. Thus, she has based her regimen on the concept of positive thinking, paired with individually tailored training based on her clients’ fitness level, goals, and lifestyle. She feels that believing in your purpose, your potential, and your ability to succeed will provide the motivation necessary to achieve success. Along with coaching her own clients, Susan also serves as a coach and director at Chances for Children - Arizona, where she leads fundraising teams and helps develop programs for the state’s underprivileged youth.
Within the past six years, Susan has coached more than 800 runners through the finish line, helping them to achieve their goal of completing a half or full marathon. She is an RRCA and USATF Level 1 Certified Running Coach and a NPTI-Certified Personal Trainer. Always striving to grow personally and professionally, Susan has accrued nine years of Elite running experience, six years of successful coaching, Road Runners Club of America Coaching Certification, numerous courses in sports nutrition for distance running, extensive personal understanding of how to balance training with real life, and an inspiring attitude to help others become their dream.
Susan has three sons, a daughter-in-law, a step-son, a step-daughter, and one granddaughter.
