It started in 2002 when Chris de Lizer finished her first teacher training and decided to open a small yoga studio and boutique on Southport. Little did she know that ten years later that she would sell Namaskar and teach yoga full time. Chris is an inspiring, charismatic and creative teacher. She is able to guide her students deeper into their practice by words, the breath and surrender. Inspired by Sri T. Krishnamacharya, Mark Whitwell, Patabi Jois, Rumi, Bob Marley and The Baghavad Gita. David Duerkop


David was drawn to yoga as an antidote to his hectic days at the Chicago Board of Trade. He quickly became fascinated by the depth of yoga and humbled by the valuable lessons his practice often provided. Teaching to others became a natural extension of his own yoga practice. David is a Baptiste Associate instructor and has also completed the yogaview teacher-training in Chicago as well as a 100 hour teacher-training with Rusty Wells in San Francisco. He leads weekly meditation services at The Midwest Buddhist Temple and draws on his many years of Buddhist and meditation studies to enhance his yoga teaching. Joanna is a certified Personal Trainer, Yoga instructor and Pilates instructor. Her passion for connecting to, and accessing, the body and mind began at a very young age and has led her to an amazing path of constant learning and sharing. Growing up as a competitive gymnast, Joanna has always loved to move, to sweat, and connect to the body. After over 10 years of intense gymnastics training, Joanna left the competitive world and dabbled in coaching recreational gymnastics for children and teens. It was then that she also began exploring the world of theatre, music and dance. She went on to study musical theatre in college. Joel Maloof began running after graduating college where he competed as a competitive swimmer. Since running his first marathon in 2006, he has continued to run marathons and has competed in several Ironman triathlons. Joel’s passion for running and triathlons has led him to his current professional career as a chiropractor, after he was successfully treated for low back pain while training for his first marathon. In his practice, he uses personal experience as an athlete to help give him a better understanding of what it takes to help rehabilitate his patients back to an active, healthy lifestyle. .. Kelly began practicing yoga in San Francisco in 1998. She showed up to her first class coming off her first knee surgery. Despite the limitations in her knee, Kelly was immediately drawn to the physical practice and integrated yoga into her rehabilitation. She regained full range of motion in her knee, and reminding her of childhood days as a gymnast, she dedicated herself to the practice. While living in San Francisco, she played with several different styles of yoga. This powerful connection with yoga and the desire to share with others led her to her first teacher training in 2003. Despite the language barrier, Kelly was immediately drawn to the sense of community she felt within each yoga class.
