a hit of holiday inspiration

holiday-inspiration

With just two weeks ‘til Christmas, we’re feeling the holiday spirit in the form of excitement, endorphins and liquids that typically come in a wineglass. There are trees to trim, menus to prepare, gifts to purchase and 30-day sweat challenges to complete. Here’s a little hit of holiday inspiration to help light the fire under our chestnuts.

gift wrap
gift wrap galore
If you’re anything like me, there is no joy quite like having someone ogle over your giftwrap (okay, watching their eyes light up after opening the perfect gift makes for a close second). From eco-friendly materials, to combating absurdly shaped items, Martha has done it again with an inspiring 46 ways to giftwrap this season - and that’s a good thing.

ski - snowshoe
winter activities
This one’s for the locals (and for those whose geographical location warrants a white Christmas). With the onset of cold air and threat of snow, it’s easy to go all Mrs. Black Bear and start packing it in for the season. Don’t let the drop in temperatures cause a drop in your mood or activity level. We’re looking forward to a morning ski at Cypress Mountain and a late afternoon snowshoe, followed by hot poutine and a sing-along at Hollyburn Lodge

holiday drinks
12 days of cocktails
We hardly need a reason to drink a great beverage out of a fancy glass and straw. This list of holiday cocktails from the Food Network is one we’ll be checking more than twice

secret santa
secret santa generator
Sometimes we need to hold off and appreciate the simple traditions. Drawing paper names from a top hat for a round of Secret Santa is not one of those times. Say goodbye to wasted time, countless redraws and that certain family member’s facial expressions that seem to spoil everything. This online generator does all the distribution work for you and lets you share wishlists packed with the stuff you really want.

chalkboard - wineglass
chalkboard china
If it were socially appropriate we’d chain our dinner guests to their beverages and settle once and for all whose ‘nog is whose. Since it’s not, Chalkboard China created a neat way to keep tabs on your glass and, it conveniently doubles as a surface for an impromptu round of Pictionary. Feeling crafty? Check out this DIY version.

ornament-tree
the un tree christmas tree
From primped and plump to Charlie-Brown-inspired, Christmas trees come in all shapes and sizes. If you’re looking to spruce up the classic spruce, give this modern, tree-free Christmas ‘tree’ a whirl.
