We asked people around our head office in Vancouver to share a congratulations message for our new store in Regina, Saskatchewan, that opens on January 25th. Watch the video below and then read on to learn more about why we heart Regina from Devon, a Regina local.

regina: fast facts

Location: The heart of the prairies
Population: 193,101
Number of yoga studios: 5
Average winter temperature: The average low in January is -23 degrees Celsius. But with windchill -23 can quickly feel like -40!
Known for: Regina is known for our generous, friendly people, Rider [editor's note: the Saskatchewan Roughriders are a professional football team in case you didn't know, eh?] pride, frigid winters, Wascana lake and prairie lightning storms.
What's up with the watermelons? If you've been to a Rider game, you get it.

this city is different

Perhaps 'city' is not the correct word to describe the thriving prairie metropolis that is Regina, Saskatchewan. While our city limits are quickly expanding, something unique remains in the communities that exist within Regina. It's no secret that Regina folk are of hearty stock. Braving some of the coldest temperatures in the country will do that; everyone becomes a friend in need in -40 degree weather. But there is something more unique about this city than our four distinct seasons and our deep appreciation for all things green, containing the words 'rough' and 'riders' and a little game called football. It's our sense of community.

take a run

Ask any Regina local where to go for a run, and they will respond “Wascana Lake” in lightning speed. Located in the heart of the city, the beautiful 10K loop around the lake inspires runners, bikers, dog walkers and everything in between to bust a lap during the warm months - and the die-hards to persevere through our windy winters.

Fun fact: the prairies are extremely flat. Hate hills? Geography has taken care of those pesky bumps for you.

the yoga scene

Regina is home to some of the most bad-ass yogis in the prairies. Dying for an ashtanga full primary practice? Get your asana to Yoga Mala. Craving a hot class on a fridgid winter day? Ambassador Tina Hnatiuk’s classes at Bodhi Tree Yoga will warm you inside and out.

Handstands at our Regina pop-up event last summer!

join us

Join us for an evening of yoga and celebration as we ignite the light of the Regina yoga community. We are officially here to stay, and would love to meet you on your mat. The amazing Colin Hall will lead us through a 60 minute all-levels yoga practice. Bring your mat and bring your friends!

Go here for more details and to RSVP.
