catching up with tom

This guy takes on mile after mile with his best buddy at his side – I mean look at that furry face, could you leave Tom behind? Watch the video and read below to learn more about this dynamic running duo featuring our Soho store ambassador, Tom Cripps and his canine sidekick, Footyboots.

I wore them for about eight years. I don't wear them anymore. I made myself a guinea pig for running form and quickly realized that orthotics don't make the problem go away they just move the weakness elsewhere. With proper running form I now run farther, faster, more frequently and injury-free.

Sweat vs Silver.

Not mine. Belongs to Footyboots. He is at his happiest when playing with the frisbee and when he is happy that means no humans are in immediate danger of his crushing look of disapproval.

The novelty moustache is for me to wear when Footyboots is upset with me. He can't recognize me when I'm wearing it. Something about being colorblind…

Light as air. Yeah yeah.

Used to massage knots out of my legs, namely my left lower IT band. Grrr…

Clearly I don't like complex stories…

A couple of ultra-marathon mementos. (Ed's note: Psh. No big deal...)

Have to be careful taking a Frenchie on a run… Their hips and snouts are not built for it at all.

what kind of running leash/harness do you use to take footyboots running? He looks so happy! :)

Footyboots “crushing look of disapproval” could only be matched by Odie Oderson ‘s gruesome glare. (Frenchies are awesome!!)

Howdy – quick response to your q’s:

Running shoes are Salomon S-Lab Sense. They’re great. 4mm toe drop. <7 ounces. So pretty minimalist and great for trails.

Harness – I'm not sure. Pretty sure we picked it up from PetSmart or a local pet store in NYC. Apparently Frenchies can have breathing troubles, so best keep the lead attached to their body rather than their neck I guess!

Frenchy + Lululemon – yes, great combination! Footyboots has joined the Soho group for a few runs before.

Frenchy + Running – yeah, you want to be careful, but Footyboots has always been very active so he has built himself up to it over the years. If the weather is cool he will crush many miles before I can keep up with him!

Footyboots obviously much more athletic than my Calvin and Olive (also frenchies). Finally gave up on taking them even for a short walk after I had to carry Olive home several times. Footyboots is super-cute and I hope to see more of him on the website.

Some dogs love playtime, others love mealtime!

Footyboots’ harness looks like a Puppia which are great! My frenchie Wilbur sports one. We picked it up at the pet shop on Bedford in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

So great that you mentioned it; Dora has inspired my Mantra when running or biking… I sing “just keep running/peddling” when I hit a wall! It has taken me much further than I thought I could go!

I loved this video of Tom and his Frenchie Footyboots! I too have an active canine runner- a Boston Terrier who loves his morning run, even more than I do!
Our Boston has always been active- his short snout has not slowed him down- He would go further if I could!
