She's one of those people who ALWAYS knows what's happening in the world...from the NFL Draft to what marathons are happening, Sairah always knows what's goin' down. Let's take a peek at her house to see how she lives in her 'offline' world.
Tell us how you found your place and what you were looking for.
I'm from the North Shore and enjoyed having a yard and being amongst the trees so originally that's what I set out looking for. I kind of became obsessed with looking at places and decorating them in my mind (Craigslist and Padmapper were my BFFs). I knew that I wanted lots of space and somewhere that worked for my dog Mischa.
Ultimately, my boyfriend, Conner, was already living in a beautiful apartment right on the edge of Gastown with an incredible view (seeing the trees is the same as living amongst them right?). I decided to move in to "Where To Dougie" (named that long before my time) and haven't looked back. All visitors are encouraged to check in on Foursquare.
How would you describe your taste?
I'm also not afraid to mix antiques with modern pieces. We love to entertain so it's important to me that people feel comfortable in our place.
I live for memories so there are tons of pictures, books and things that I've collected throughout my travels. I'm constantly on Pinterest looking for new ideas (hence the polka-dot door). See the social media trend yet?
What are three things you've found for your home that you're the most excited about?
My favourite Roy Lichtenstein painting – Girl With The Hair Ribbon. I bought this print in Krabi, Thailand and carried it everywhere on my travels until I made it home. It took me 2 years to get it framed out, but I'm so glad that I finally did.
My Nana gave me her copy of The Vogue Book of Etiquette published in 1924. It's a beautiful leather bound book and a fascinating read because of the generational differences.
Voluspa Candles are a game changer! I discovered these a few years back and can't get enough. Pink Citron is my favourite. My good friend Alana just sent me one scented with goji berries, ripe mango and orange. It's divine. Lots of people let their candles sit there unburned for décor – I'm a firm believer that candle light is good for the soul.
What do you love about your neighbourhood?
What don't I love?! It's close to the Seawall, all the best restaurants and pubs and it's a (VERY) short commute to work.
Best part is, it's right upstairs from Rogers Arena and BC Place making it easy access to all of the local sporting events and concerts.
If there was a fire, what three things would you grab?
Mischa, my shih tzu – I've had her for almost 9 years, she's seriously the best (and cutest) dog ever.
My blankie (did I just say that out loud?) - I've had it for a really, REALLY long time and I'm pretty attached to it.
External hard drive (dorkville, I know). Photo album 2.0 – it has all of my photo and video memories stored on it.
