introducing Full-On Luon

We’re always innovating and pushing the envelope when it comes to the design, fit and function of our product, and this includes innovations around Luon®. We’ve been working hard for over two years to develop a new member of our Luon® fabric family. I’m so excited to introduce you to Full-On Luon®.

Our team of experts, which included designers, textile developers our product innovations manager and our innovations team developed this fabric based on feedback from our designers and guests. Their goal was to innovate our favourite fabric. We’ve done extensive wear-testing with educators, ambassadors and athletes in our communities. It took over two years to run various trials, tests, validate and bring this fabric to the market.

Full-On Luon® has all the same performance characteristics as the Luon® we know and love: it’s moisture wicking, has four-way stretch and a cotton hand feel. It also provides increased support and coverage thanks to a tight-knit construction. It feels snug against the body: think of it like a bear hug.

Moving forward, we'll be producing all of our all-black Wunder Under Pants using Full-On Luon® fabric. This is one of our favourite styles, and now there’s one more reason to love it.

Since this is a new fabric, it will feel different on your body than Luon®. It’s important to try it on to ensure you get the fit that you love. If you’re unsure about the fit, check out our fit education.

We love this new fabric option so much that we’re developing it in additional bottom styles that will include core pieces, which will hit stores later this year. This process takes time to do it right, and we will let you know when we update styles with Full-On Luon®.

The Full-On Luon® Wunder Under Pants have arrived in Canada and US. Our international guests will get them over the next few months. Stay tuned to your local product notification to find out when they’re available in a store near you.

We want to know what you think! We’re always listening, so head over to our new community, and share your feedback with us.

Is this going to be sheer as well? The quality of wunder unders has really gone down in the last year. It is so disappointing. I am no longer a loyal customer.

Comment by robin — July 23, 2013 @ 3:36 am

Why can’t you guys just use the good stuff for everything? As a dedicated customer, the lack of consistent quality is getting frustrating. I think we all would love to see more full on luon and less luon and luon light. It doesn’t make sense for a company like Lululemon to skimp in some areas and not others.

Comment by Lacey — July 23, 2013 @ 7:20 am

That’s good to hear about the full on luon.

Does that mean that the first few batches of WUC and WUP that were still sheer are a defect? I was told by the Ed at the shop that I was wearing my right size but the new crops I got are sheer on me. I’ve been dealing with this by wearing longer tops but if all the new items are coming out in this new material I think the sheer ones that came out recently should be addressed by replacements / refunds.

Comment by Mia — July 23, 2013 @ 9:09 am

I’m very excited to try the new full on Luon! The new material sounds exactly like what we have all been asking for – thanks Lulu for providing amazing clothes for us to workout in! PS don’t forget those 6 inch inseam shorts that I’d like for crossfit & powerlifting please!!
Happily wearing lulu for 8 years!

Comment by Kristy HG — July 23, 2013 @ 9:20 am

Can we still exchange our sheer luon WU crops purchased in March for something that isn’t sheer?

Comment by Michele — July 23, 2013 @ 12:53 pm

C’mon, be honest- is this the old luon that you are bringing back because the new luon was over-diluted to save money?

Comment by Cricket — July 23, 2013 @ 3:31 pm

I’ve gone back to wearing Nike. My nike running gear is older than my recently bought Lulu’s, and the nike is still in pristine condition. Lulu fabric on all the different styles I have barely last a couple of months

Comment by Caty — July 23, 2013 @ 4:04 pm

What’s up for men with this full on luon?

Comment by Sel — July 23, 2013 @ 4:19 pm

Going to go ahead and also voice my displeasure the in the rapid decline in quality of lulu products recently. The pants are sheer and the bathing suit I got bled even though I HAND-WASHED it in COLD water. If you can’t get a *swimsuit* wet, that is a clear indication at the inadequate quality of lulu’s latest products. Bring back the integrity! Your clothes aren’t worth poor quality!

Comment by Jess — July 23, 2013 @ 4:22 pm

So I guess the previous see through Luon is called Full Moon Luon?

Comment by Smiling Devi — July 23, 2013 @ 4:30 pm

I’m very excited for the new tights as O am a very loyal customer. I love all of lulu for teaching at my hot yoga studio. My question is: if I just ordered off-line the wunder unders on monday are they the new version or no?

Comment by Hanna Sebring — July 23, 2013 @ 5:45 pm

Wonderful, can’t wait to try it on. I am not a fan of luon light so have not bought any power y tanks in a long time…

Comment by Lisa — July 23, 2013 @ 5:54 pm

I’m excited for this new material as well however I think it would be even more exciting if there were styles in the luon like a real ruched foldover (not a skirt) with a seam in the back or different dark colors and prints.

Comment by Shana — July 23, 2013 @ 8:02 pm

By far the best mouth watering advert with hot music and hug referencing ever!! Love you guys. Ta! See it on me soon! Xox

Comment by Lauren — July 23, 2013 @ 9:27 pm

A few more details on increased benefits would be great!

Comment by Kathryn — July 24, 2013 @ 6:48 am

I sure hope that the price is not bumped up for this different fabric as we have already absorbed increased costs for the past few years when the quality of the product has not justified these increases.

Comment by P — July 24, 2013 @ 8:01 am

Hi Hanna,
Our Full-On Luon we were excited to release onto our Canadian online site yesterday and we will be seeing them pop up on the United States online site later next week. You’ll know them because they will be listed as “Wunder Under Pant *Full-On Luon”. Thanks for checking in!

Comment by lululemon athletica GEC — July 24, 2013 @ 2:01 pm

Hi Sel,
Thanks for the touching base on this. Right now we are rolling Full-On Luon out in our Wunder Under pants. There have been not words on the wind of men’s gear in this fabric for the super soon future. However keep your eyes open as we may see this fabric in other great gear as time goes on.

Comment by lululemon athletica GEC — July 24, 2013 @ 2:04 pm

Hi Michele,
Oh, please do bring you current gear back into us if you aren’t comfortable with the coverage. We truly rely on our great guests to bring any product that’s not up to snuff to our attention so we have the chance to make things right. Either run them back to the nearest store or just ring us here at the GEC – 1.877.263.9300

This doesn’t sound like “new” Luon at all. What exactly is new about it?

Has the company finally realized their mistake in trying to pass off a cheaper blend of spandex/poly since the re-release of WUC & WUP? Because not only from the feedback I’ve seen from your loyal customers, but also from my own comparison of “old” quality Luon WUC, the blend of the material’s ingredients got cheaper & thinner.

Shame on you Lululemon for trying to fool your high paying “Guests” who expect the quality you’ve fed them for so long only to pass off a tawdry look-alike that is sub-par & laughable so you could cut corners and make an extra, what? $10 per clothing article? Trust me, this isn’t a company hurting for money by any means.

I find it a huge insult to my intelligence and that of your other “Guests” that you are now trying to go back to your “Original” Luon by calling it a new name (and without a doubt will come with an even higher price tag than the old “good” quality Luon) & representing it as a new product, when in fact, we all know it’s going to be the old Luon because you’ve had so much negative feedback & too many returns of your recent low quality material.

I personally ordered a pair of the Power Purple & reversible Soot Light/Pizazz WUCs and instantly returned them both due to their “scratch” cheap feel and because they were sheer. These crops did not support & flatter they way the original Luon used to… you can’t even call this blend you’ve got going on Luon, because quite simply, it just isn’t.

Get your act together, stop cutting corners, stop trying to steal from your “Loyal Guests”. If we mean so much to you, or rather, if our wallets mean so much to you, then give us the quality we deserve and expect.

Just bought a pair of Full-on Lyon WUP and I LOVE them so far! A bit thicker, but still soft and stretchy.

Comment by Nicole — July 29, 2013 @ 7:35 pm

I hope this is a return to the old luon. I have a couple old pairs of WU and they still look new, SO comfy/soft, and not see through at all. It is so frustrating to see LLL act like they are “fixing a problem” when there was no problem to begin with. Old WU were perfect and LLL ruined them. Go back to the old fabric instead of trying to find a “new” fix. Sometimes I feel this company is blatantly insulting my intelligence when they insist these changes were caused by a problem in oversight instead of an attempt to increase profit margins.

Comment by Sam — July 29, 2013 @ 11:25 pm

Would sure like to see your original winders return.. Especially the reversible ( LOVE that double fabric/ two tone ) . Feels way more flattering. I promise to continue to be a loyal customer if you promise to deliver. Please don’t start compromising on quality… It was what drew me to your company and the only way I will stay.

thank you

Comment by Linda — July 30, 2013 @ 12:05 am

I’m a personal trainer in Houston, Texas so I’m in workout clothing 6 days a week. I have bought my pants in your store exclusively since you opened in Houston Highland Village until recently. Someone there forgot the first rule of business – if it isn’t broken, DON’T fix it! It shouldn’t take two years to go back to doing things the way you were when your pants were worth purchasing. I even have white wonder unders that you couldn’t see through. Like someone else posted, don’t save your “new and improved Luon” for black pants. Those of us who wear them every day need and want and pay for the good fabric in every pant that you offer. Thank you.

Comment by Jeanne Herbert — July 30, 2013 @ 4:43 am

What a disappointment your products have been lately. It’s embarrassing and you should be ashamed of yourself. I refuse to shop at lulu, its been over 8 months since I stepped into one of your shops because I can no longer justify paying your outragouse prices for products that aren’t worth it. For now I’m sticking to Nike because I’m sick and tired of wearing clothes and teaching in clothes that show my behind. What do you have to say for yourselves??

Comment by Neveen — July 30, 2013 @ 5:31 am

Hi hope Full-On Luon is code for Good Old Luon because the new Luon is one-third the fabric the old Luon was. It’s been frustrating as a Lululemon lover to walk away from purchase after purchase over the past year and a half because nothing works to combat the sheerness. I want my Old Luon back!

Comment by Kelly — July 30, 2013 @ 5:37 am

Please bring back the high waisted Wunder Unders and the comfy, longer, soft, cozy after yoga jackets with the big snaps !!!

Comment by Kim — July 30, 2013 @ 6:24 am

I really hope these will be like the old Luon. I still have my pair of wunder unders I bought back in the winter of 2009 and I wear them sparingly because I love them and don’t want to wear them out since the new ones just aren’t as soft and thick. They also have the diamond gusset which truly does make a difference. Please just figure out what you were doing back then and then make them just the same way. That was back when I got hooked on Lulu and wanted to own eveything in the store. I’d love to feel like that again.

Comment by Emilie — July 30, 2013 @ 6:44 am

will there ever be a lower waist option? I fold my wunder under waists down, which isn’t always comfortable. Why hasn’t there ever been an option for those of us who would like our pants lower. I am petite and find that your regular pants to fall too high above my waist.

Comment by nancy — July 30, 2013 @ 6:48 am

It’s certainly been a tough couple of years for loyal Lulu customers with the proliferation of luon light, poor quality, sheer fabric, questionable colors/combinations and poor design. I hope this is really an innovation, but doesn’t come with an increased price tag, too. You know, there is an old saying, “if it’s not broke, don’t fix it” or alternatively, “if you’re in a hole, stop digging”.

On a positive note, I can’t say enough good things about customer service. Every time I work with someone at the 800 number, it’s a joy. I don’t where you find them since this is not the case with other customer service/relations. And I’m sure their job has been made more difficult with recent company stumbles.

You know, maybe you want to design or market a separate line of products made strictly for hot yoga or other such “hot” activities where you can use lighter fabrics. I’m sure there is a set of customers this would appeal to who are looking for short, light and minimum support.

I will be waiting with anticipation for the new products/fabric. I know I rarely buy anymore if I can’t see, touch and feel the Lulu product or unless I’ve purchased it previously and want another color. I have been disappointed too many times and don’t want to take the risk any more.

Comment by Kim — July 30, 2013 @ 7:41 am

I too still have some sheer items (mostly Luxtreme crops) that anger me when I wear them. The only way to deal with them is to a) throw them away, or b) wear another layer beneath them. I very much wanted to purchase some technical underwear from Lululemon, but guess what? Guests are permitted neither to try on the underwear nor to return it. Really, Lulu? Final sale and you DON’T EVEN GET TO TRY THEM ON???

As another commenter put it, “I really hate the Lulu final sale policy. It says they don’t stand behind their product. They should take them back if they don’t live up to their claims.”

Amen, sister.

Comment by Laura in NJ — July 30, 2013 @ 9:53 am

I buy two items in Florida, Aventura Mall Store, I want to exchange size , with recipe, they have all the excuse , and don’t want to change the size.
This is not fair.

Comment by Maria Antonieta — July 30, 2013 @ 2:15 pm

Hey Maria,
Our return policy is within two weeks of purchase, unwashed, unworn, tags still attached and with the original receipt. For anything outside of this it is up to the stores discretion. If you would like to chat about your experience further, give us a call at the GEC (1.877.263.9300). Thanks!

Sounds like a step in the right direction- just in time because I was hoping for a new pair of wonder unders :) hoping that the new fabric won’t be too thick..
