munich & paris, if you please

We adore our designers. The team recently left the office behind and "worked" in Europe for a week. (Tragic, right?) We asked Katie, our accessories designer, if we could tag along. (She mentioned luon and a faux-fur vest in the same sentence. Ooh la la.)

Eiffel Tower

Twice a year, the Design team gets turned loose in Europe. Our mission: get educated and inspired. (This is one of the many times I stop and ask myself, "How the hell did I get such an awesome life?" )

katie

How the hell did you get such an awesome life, Katie?

This time, the itinerary included tradeshows and beer in Munich, followed by more tradeshows, macaroons, and shopping in Paris. The travel necessities I can never leave home without:  luon, running shoes, and a travel mat for impromptu hotel room yoga sessions. The cat didn't make it into the suitcase despite his best efforts.  I figured customs might have had something to say about that one.

what to pack

The bare necessities, cat not included.

We travel in packs and we travel in style.  The Bon Voyage Duffel is apparently a clear favorite with the group.  With so many organizational compartments, it's a life-saver. (I'm the designer but i'm not biased, I swear.)

The duffel is the new suitcase

Goal semi-completed:  "I drink beer in Germany with my flannel-clad boyfriend by September 2011."  Andrea was a great stand-in seeing as the flannel-clad boyfriend is still outstanding. (Applications are currently being accepted.)

beer in munich

katie + beer + Germany + flannel-clad boyfriend stand-in = goal 75% acheived

Early morning runs in Paris helped clear our heads and offset our calorie consumption. If there happens to be a shortage of bread and butter in the city of love, I swear it's not our fault.

running around Paris

Au revoir, Europe! We'll be back before you even have a chance to miss us.

katie

A Heathrow-bound Katie hits the road in her luon and faux-fur vest. We love.

want more?

Hmmm..maybe it's time the Digital team did some research abroad? Where would you want to meet us for yoga and a cappuccino?

Great! It seems as they enjoyed Europe…

When will there be a Lululemon store in Europe?

Top 7Suggestion:

1. Amsterdam
2. Paris
3. London
4. Brussels
5. Milaan
6. Barcelona or Mardrid
7. Berlin

I’m loving all the suggestions Sherry. Thanks for sharing them with us. At the moment our focus is on North America, but I’ll be passing along everyones suggestions to our Store Development team.
If you are near London, we actually have two Strategic Sales Partners there. They will carry a selection of our products, so feel free to check them out http://bit.ly/9OtqT0

I’m addicted to Lululemon (my boyfriend will attest). Always looking for more men’s items. And items that can go from run to bike. Can’t wait to see what comes next from your trip!

I think Zürich, Switzerlnd should be atop of the list for the next Lululemon store in Europe. I see a few Lululemon fans in my gym here, and would be great to have a store in the city. After all, here is where the well-off Europeans come to spend their money.

I had no idea Lululemon had Strategic Sales Partners in London. I’ll be heading there soon. I’ll have to admit though, I’m a bit scared to see the prices in GBP! I, too, would love a Lululemon store anywhere in Europe–not picky at all!

It’s macarons, not macaroons. Macaroons are coconut cookies, macarons are divine Parisian confections.

Europe on the list! I like the top 7 locations list, starting in Amsterdam. Okay, maybe it has now started in London, but lets make Amsterdam and all other EU suggestions a close 2nd.

I see solid potential in several key markets. The store-within-a store concept could work well for testing. Would love to read more about what the designers’ impressions were of European athletic wear.

One thing’s for sure, most Europeans are used to paying for – and expecting – quality. And they certainly appreciate style.
