my favourite lululemon piece

Nothing gets me more excited than when I'm working in our stores and I hear about guests falling in love with the TaTa Tamer. It may seem a little self-serving to name the TTT as my favourite piece of lululemon, but how can I not?

Any girl who's ever had to wear two bras just to go for a run knows exactly where I'm coming from. It's of course a lot more than that for me, being my first (read: more gorgeous supportive bras to come!) major contribution to lululemon in the world of full support sports bras.

I'm passionate about what I do: bras and underwear are fun and shouldn't be boring! I believe they should be a part of your outfit; they should look great and function for you no matter what you're doing.

I love solving problems in creative ways. Whether it's educators telling me about guest experiences or it's getting the opportunity to fit someone properly in the perfect sports bra for their needs, it makes my day. It's one thing to love what you do, another to do what you love, and it's something close to incredible when doing what you love changes the lives of women in the best possible way.

I wear my TTT all the time, co-coordinating of course with whatever outfit/activity I'm up to - working, running, jumping, dodgeballin'...(yes, I have specific outfits for these activities!). I've got various colours to work with my various outfits.

I love love love being a woman, I love being active, and I don’t believe that women should ever have to compromise one for the other. I'm proud of my shape, I like my curves and I want to still look feminine while running. No more uni-boob, AND I get the support I need! What else could I ask for? It's a fun, cute garment that functions. How could the TaTa Tamer not be my favourite piece of lululemon?

Melissa is our bra and swimwear designer. Her big, hairy, ambitious goal is to have Oprah talk about one of her bras on air.

In the photo above, Melissa and MelEesa (both on our design team) are wearing the Movement Tank over top of their TaTa Tamers. To try on and fall in love with a TaTa Tamer yourself, please visit your local lululemon store.

I own two TaTa Tamers, and as busty girl myself I can truly say that these are THE BEST BRAS ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. They are supportive, flattering, and comfortable! What more could you want? (Ps – love the new colors / patterns).

Comment by Carolyn — April 14, 2009 @ 9:55 pm

I think your doing a wonderful job Melissa! Keep the fun and functional bra’s coming!!!

Comment by Rachael — April 15, 2009 @ 6:06 am

I LOVE the TTT!!! It’s supportive, flattering, and most important – COMFORTABLE, even while running!!! Will you guys be making a TTT that’s either convertible or racer back style??

Comment by Rebekah — April 15, 2009 @ 8:27 am

This is so cool- I would love to hear more from the people behind the scene at lululemon! I’d also like to hear about their backgrounds, etc and how they landed such cool jobs!

Comment by Nicci — April 15, 2009 @ 2:45 pm

Love the ta ta tamer, but please make it in racer back as well!!!

Comment by Tiffany — April 15, 2009 @ 3:25 pm

I wear a 36E and this is the only sports bra that I can run in. I feel about 10 punds lighter. Thanks!

Comment by Dena — April 15, 2009 @ 5:41 pm

LOVE the Ta Ta Tamer!!! THANK YOU! Agree we need it in racerback :)

Comment by Shauna — April 15, 2009 @ 7:42 pm

I love your sportsbras but I have a hard time fitting them. I just have a couple suggestions:
1. Have a larger selection of sizes. I am busty girl and a lot time DD cup is too small for me.
2. Every other month have professional bra fittings in store for customers. Most people are wearing the wrong size bra and it would give you more feedback on what your clients require. Plus it would be a great service for your clients and will help promote the bras.

Keep up the good work!

Comment by Nola — April 16, 2009 @ 7:41 am

I agree …love the Ta Ta Tamer…definitely need a supportive bra to wear with all the awesome racer back tanks.

Comment by Karen — April 16, 2009 @ 7:41 am

The TTT changed my life. After having my baby, I couldn’t run anymore in my old sports bras. I was about to give up until I found the TTT. Thank you so much!!!! I own 2 of them now :)

Comment by Claire — April 16, 2009 @ 10:54 am

Hi Guys! thanks so so so soooo much for your feedback! Keep it coming!!! I have good news for some of you, starting in our Fall 09 Season – which is in stores around August (somewhere in that area!) the TTT will come with the option of crossing over the straps so you can A. get EVEN MORE support, and B. hide the straps under your racerback tanks!

Please keep your size comments coming – if we don’t have it in your size we want to know! We’re still figuring out what sizes our guests need and we need your help with that!

Thanks so so very much!

LOVE LULU and all the bras and tops. Just would love to see a solution to armpit fat! Can some of the arm holes be higher???
Thanks! Keep up the great work. I’m a total addict!

Comment by Joanne — April 17, 2009 @ 6:43 am

Why isn’t the TTT for sale on your website? I have been to 2 stores, and they don’t carry my size (38DD) and they told me to come online to buy it, but it’s not on here!

Comment by Meg — April 17, 2009 @ 11:56 am

I appreciate the new items, TTT included. But, to be honest, I miss the old, simple products. As a long-time Lululemon fan, I am sad that you no longer offer the “Marathon Bra” (or even the old version of the “Deep V Bra”). They are soft, supportive and simple. I understand the role that the TTT fills. Yet, for me, after wearing the new stuff (TTT and others) for a while, I still find myself much more content when I put on the old products. I miss them. I miss them TERRIBLY. Please, just because you design something new doesn’t mean you have to toss out the old. I *want* the Marathon Bra back (with it’s wide straps and all). You currently offer NO BRA that serves the same purpose as the “Marathon Bra” did. NONE. Please reconsider.

Comment by old-time fan — April 17, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

Why is the TTT not available online?

Comment by New to lululemon — April 17, 2009 @ 6:36 pm

i love lulu lemon! i am a gymnast and its great to wear lulu lemon because its comfterble an easy to move around in. but the price is a little high for me. i really perfer not to spend 60 bucks on a pair of yoga pants when i can go to costco and get 2 pairs of yoga pants for 60 bucks. i wear the headbands almost everyday so the headbands are deffenetly my favorate. the slipless headbands rock because they dont fall off while im doing my routines on the trampoline. please concider lowering your prices a bit. :)

Hey Meg and “New to lululemon”! We are getting more and more inventory into our online store daily, so watch for changing bra options over the next few weeks and months. I’m not sure as of yet if our TTT will be available online, but you are welcome to call our GEC (1.877.263.9300) to see if they have any available for sale over the phone.

Dear old-time fan! Great feedback, I’m sending an email to our design team right now. In the past we have brought many different styles back due to popular demand. If you’d like to share more information about this request: <– you can fill this form out and it gets straight to our designers.

Thanks again for all your amazing feedback you guys! We’re here listening and learning from all of you.

Hi guys, the TTT is coming to the web! We’ve started off with core items and at the time we didn’t know how much you guys would love the TTT! It will eventually be available in Black on the web for you, anytime day or night so stay tuned!

Comment by Melissa — April 20, 2009 @ 4:38 pm

What a great article! See, now I’m going to have to go and add another bra to my arsenal of bras, and buy a TTT! Can I place a suggestion here? I love the “Not-so-Deep-V” bra! LOVE IT! Not because it gives a great deal of support, because it doesn’t, but it is VERY comfortable, and makes the girls looks fabulous! I want you to design a bathing suit top with this look! Do you think I could wear the “Not So Deep V” bra swimming? Would it harm the fabric?

Keep up the great work!

Comment by Natalie — April 21, 2009 @ 8:46 am

Very excited to hear about the new TTT in August. On another note, it’s disappointing to walk into one of your stores and find that you are out of a certain size/color in an item. You should offer a service where right there in the store you can call your office and have the item sent to you/or the store and have the shipping charge waived. I’ve walked out a few times because you haven’t had my size/color in an item, you lose a sale, I wouldn’t pay a shipping fee for an item you should have in stock.

Comment by Stephanie — April 21, 2009 @ 10:03 am

Hey Natalie!

Yes, you can definitely swim in the Not So Deep V Bra in fresh water. If you were planning on using it in chlorinated water it will break down the fabric over time, as it wasn’t designed as swimwear. However, you could swim in it and simply give it a good rinse after to preserve the fabric. :)

I will also send this suggestion straight to our swim designer (who happens to be the author of the post as well!).

Thanks for the great tip!

Comment by lululemon — April 21, 2009 @ 1:45 pm

Hey Stephanie!

Thanks for the great suggestion. I’m sending this idea to our ecommerce team, as I know we’ve had a few other people ask for this sort of a service. Keep the tips coming!

In the meantime, we do have a great product notification system. If you visit the minisite of the lululemon store nearest to you, you can sign up for weekly emails keeping you up to date of the newest product. While we can’t guarantee that all sizes will be in stock, this will give you first crack at all the new stuff. :)

I too absolutely fell in love with the TTT. Thank you! After discovering it at the store and buying two, I came home and was so excited- I publicly declared on my Facebook status that after almost 15 years of searching, I had finally found the perfect sportsbra. You can only imagine the responses I received- and the advertising I did for Lululemon.

I agree with one of the comments above- please design swimwear that is just as supportive, stylish and functional! I enjoy the style of the “Not So Deep V” as well, or maybe something even more like the “Lift and Separate”. In a halter?! Can’t wait to try anything you come up with…

Comment by Amy — April 21, 2009 @ 2:09 pm

Hey there!

Just tried the TTT for the first time in store – I was SO close to buying it but I couldn’t get over the circular pads – they made my boobs look fake (which they’re not) and even bigger than they are (omg no!)! Took the pads out and the shape was lost altogether.

Any chance you’ll make it with more natural looking pads?

Also – have always LOVED the Swift – but that’s definitely a bra that could benefit from pads too!

Comment by Tamara — April 21, 2009 @ 7:12 pm

Awesome feedback Tamara – I definately know what you mean about how the bra cups can sometimes look unnatural (but then again, I’m generally a ‘no cups’ kinda gal) I’ll make sure that your feedback gets passed on to Melissa and the rest of the design team…

Glad you love the TTT Amy!! And thanks for the swimwear feedback – I’m excited for future swimwear designs as well! But we do have some super cute bathing suits in stores right now, you should check them out :)

Comment by lululemon — April 22, 2009 @ 10:34 am

hello! i also tried the TTT in the store but my problem isnt not enough support. i want a bra that isnt going to flatten my already small chest. the circular pads look fake. any feedback on which bra would be the best fit? or design one for the small chested women as well? thanks!! btw i love love the groove pants!

Comment by Jenny — April 22, 2009 @ 5:03 pm

Hi Jenny! Thanks again for the feedback regarding the bra cups.
So, about the bras – since I don’t have too much going on upstairs and high support isn’t a big issue for me either, I find the Flow Y Bra to be perfect! It’s such a great basic piece and gives me the support that I need in yoga and any kind of workout including cardio and boxing. If you don’t like the cups, you can take them out (as I do) and I’ve never had an issue with looking too flat. Another bra to try is the Cross Back Bra. It definitely doesn’t flatten you out and it’s a super attractive cut! Hope that helps and please let us know how they work out for!

Comment by lululemon — April 23, 2009 @ 11:36 am

I love this sports bra. It’s fabulous for those of us with more on top. It’s very supportive and I love the removable cups (although I agree with Tamara’s comment about a more ergonomic shaped pad, like those offered with some of the tanks).

It came highly recommended and I have to agree 100%.
When it becomes available on the web I will buy at least two more. It’s very comfortable and I can wear it to dance class without worrying about any ‘jiggle factor’. Larger cup sizes would also be a great idea as those of us larger than a D cup would be very interested in higher support bras I would imagine – particularly one as effective as this. Plus you offer so many lighter support bras for smaller boobs anyway…..

Comment by Rach — April 24, 2009 @ 9:02 am

I just stopped in one of your stores yesterday to buy the TTT bra after reading the reviews, but I couldn’t buy it. I have a comment similar to someone else concerning the pads. I too think they need some reshaping, and especially they need to be thinner! When you are buying the D cup you don’t need all that padding. It’s great to have the nipple coverage, but you can still get that with a thinner pad. Hopefully, when the new design comes out in August, you can update the pads.

Comment by Stephanie — April 24, 2009 @ 1:43 pm

I love all of your products. I do a lot of yoga and running and what I can say about Lululemon products, it doesn’t matter the size or shape of the women wearing it, they all look phenomenal. Every women I have talked to who owns Lulu bras, tops, pants, crops just loves them. Awesome product you have.

Comment by Bill — April 29, 2009 @ 12:44 pm

I loved reading the post and the comments and hearing about so many big busted gals gaining confidence in the support of your TTT bra. Good work. I am writing you to encourage you to PLEASE consider increasing the size range of some of your core products, including your bras. I love your store, your philosophy, and your products, but as a size 16, 40DDD busted female I am unable to take advantage of most your wonderful products. As your manifesto suggests, exercise and a healthy outlook on activity are important for all people to live a better life. As a larger woman I am very interested and eager to participate in athletics and yoga, but sometimes the simplest thing, like finding a bra, tank and pants in which to comfortably practice, can serve as the first setback to pursuing my goals. Quality clothing, or lack of it, should not be what holds back those of us that perhaps need the physical and spiritual healing in yoga and athletics practice the most. PLEASE consider increasing your size run in core pieces to encourage women like myself to step from the shadows and actively engage with the world. Women in my size have the desire and the money to be your loyal consumers. I will keep looking and waiting for your sizes to increase. Thank you.

UNIBOOB. Hate it. What I hate even more is the mountain dew that drops down between my mashed up boobs at about 20minutes. I want a sports bra that has moisture-wicking boob separator…PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! Love my lululemon sports bras but I don’t love stuffing a kleenex between my boobs to prevent that drip.

Comment by Sylvia — May 6, 2009 @ 12:05 pm

hi guys, my favorite thing is there headbands. everyone i no ownsone. but, i do not like them because everyone else likes them. i like them cause there cool and unique. they come in so many bright colors. i think they are the best headbands ever. when i was little i thought stayputs put now im a big fan of lululemon headbands…

I seriously love Lululemon and often shop there despite the nearest store being over 20 miles away from me. Unfortunately I cannot find the Ta Ta Tamer in a 38DD. I have called 6 stores, the 1 877 number and tried online! I hope you carry this size again soon!

Comment by Amanda — July 20, 2010 @ 11:46 am

I LOVE this bra- it’s perfect for running. But the size 38D is hard to find! Please make more!!

Comment by Galena — August 22, 2010 @ 8:43 pm

I love Lululemon products.

But, frustrationly, just like Meg and Galena wrote, the larger sizes are very hard to find in retail stores, and on does not seem to consistently provide the larger TTT’s available for us bustier girls who could really use it, such as the 38DD for Meg (and myself) or the 38D for Galena.

As a today’s date here at, this remains the case :-(

Comment by Lee — January 9, 2011 @ 11:48 pm

I love the old bras so much better.
The daily yoga bra was great and the impact bra. I have a few but I need to replenish them. I also love the lift & separate bra. I have 10 of those whoch you can still find sometines. Even the hot yoga bra is awesome too. Lately I find the bras are ugly shaped that dont fit nicely.

When reading the comments on here I was lead to believe that you carried swimwear in your stores. I went into one of your stores, asked about swim wear and was looked at if I was stupid. And was told that lululemon has never maid swimwear. If you do not sell swimwear. Is there one of your sports bras that can worn as a bikini top?

Comment by Hesther — December 15, 2011 @ 7:22 am

Hey Heather,
Thanks for your question. We did have a bikini style bathing suit once, but this was several years ago and our designers were trying out the style. This past Summer we actually released some surf style garments, namely boardshorts and a rashguard, so it is possible we will see more swin/surf gear next season as well.

In terms of using one of our sports bras as a bikini top instead, I know some guests like the Deep V Bra or Flow Y Bra. Please note though, that luon is not treated for chlorine or salt water, so swimming in them may affect the fabric and longevity of the item. Be sure to wash the bra right after swimming if you do decide to swim in one though.

Hope this helps, and I will be sure to pass on your feedback about wanting some swimsuits. Thanks,

Comment by GEC Online — December 18, 2011 @ 4:57 pm

I purchased a tata tamer bra 2 years ago and love it.
So I got 2 new ones- hate them.
The adjustable straps slip out of their loop in the back.
don’t love being in the middle of a back bend and having my bra come apart.
I ended up paying $15 each to get them permanetly sewen.
So can no longer switch from a regular shoulder to racer back, but I don’t have any embarassing moments in yoga class anymore.
wouldn’t recommend this bra to anyone !!

Comment by jen — January 8, 2012 @ 7:06 pm

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us, Jen.

I’m sorry to hear you had troubles with your most recently Ta Ta Tamers. If you ever experience an issue like this with product, please always feel free to bring them into your local store or contact the Guest Education Centre if you aren’t close to one. We’re always happy to have a look at an item with a potential quality issue. Thanks again for sharing this and I’ll make sure it get’s passed onto our design team.

Comment by GEC Online — January 10, 2012 @ 4:28 pm

The sundress, tank top straps, regular back, had a toggle tie under the breasts and that silver stuff in it so it wouldn’t smell when you exercised. Think it even had SPF protection. Possibly 5 + yrs ago.

PLEASE, bring that dress back!
