om finder is here!

meet our new best friend: om finder

here's the nitty gritty

  • mobile app to help you find yoga classes, studios and teachers
  • iPhone and iPod touch only (for now!)
  • it's free, baby!
  • this is the first incarnation - this puppy is going to keep evolving based on your feedback

Do you wonder where to practice yoga when you travel? Do you want to discover new studios in your hometown? If so, we have some majorly exciting news for you! Today we launched our new yoga studio locator app om finder. Now live in the Apple Store, this free mobile app helps you discover new classes, teachers and studios and also lets you plan your yoga schedule. Even more, you'll get to hear from local lululemon yogis about the teachers and studios they love so you know which class to tackle next!

It's simple: go to the App Store on your iPhone and search "om finder" - this link should appear. Once you have finished downloading, open 'er up, sign in and start playing!

Poke around the app - there's lots of different functionalities and a ton of cool features. We have created this for you to find rad yoga classes as easily as possible AND to get more people on Planet Earth doing more yoga. Sounds good, right?

Like any of our products, we love feedback so please send over your thoughts! If you have any cool stories about classes, studios or teachers you've found with om finder, let us know - we want to hear about your adventures.

In the meantime...see you on the mat in Hatha class (or not...now is the time to try that acro yoga class you've always dreamt of!)

Is there any way to recommend a studio be added to the app if it’s not on there? My closest and fave studio (about 400m from my condo) isn’t on there :(

Hi Lulu! This is so cool! Is there a way to go about suggesting a business to be included on here? Also is it only for yoga or also pilates? I go to an amazing pilates studio Diamond Pilates in Tampa and would love to recommend it on your app :)

Comment by Meriel — April 12, 2013 @ 1:30 pm

There sure is, Callah!
Go to the find a studio tab and at the very bottom you will find the suggest a studio option. You can suggest your favourite studio right there!

Hey Meriel,
At the moment we are focusing on yoga studios. However, we may consider expanding into other sweaty pursuits as well- so I love that you recommended your fav pilates studio! If you aren’t finding your local studio on the app, you can suggest them. When you are in the app, jump onto the find a studio page and scroll to the bottom. There you will find the suggest a studio button, which sends the studio details our way.

Hi Lulu. Great idea for an app. I’m currently travelling for business, London and Switzerland, and finding yoga studios around my hotels has been a real nightmare. Is there anyways the app might be available for Blackberry at some point? We usually get left out in terms of cool apps so keeping my fingers crossed that this one will make its way into the Blackberry world.

The location of our studio is off – is there a way to change where the GPS shows the location is?

Comment by Rachael — April 13, 2013 @ 8:48 am

Hi Tania,
At the moment, we only have the application available for iOS devices however we’re always looking for feedback. I an share an application for Blackberry is something you’d like to see us offer.

Hi Rachael,
Head over to your location on MindBody to ensure that it is correct. If it is and you’re still seeing the error, call us at the guest education centre (1.877.263.9300) with the correct address and we’ll share this feedback directly with our team.

How long does it take to list a studio and do you just have to suggest it to get it listed? Also can Iyengar be on your list of different styles of yoga ? Thanks nichole

Hi,
I’ve suggested the Studio I work at: Youphoria.
How do we get class times and teachers on your app?

Hi!

I am a yoga instructor and I would like to be listed on om finder. How do I go about getting listed?

Thank you kindly

Comment by Nora — May 20, 2013 @ 2:57 pm

Hey Nora,
There are a couple different options to get you set up on the app. We are pulling all our studio information from MindBody so if the studio that you are teaching at has the MindBody service already they most likely just need to turn on the ‘Be Seen In Finder’ feature. If they are not registered users they can sign up for the MindBody free service ‘DOT’ which will allow their basic information to flow through but not all their schedules. You can also suggest a studio through the app by scrolling to the bottom of the ‘find’ then ‘studios’ tab. If you need any additional help with these options feel free to give us a call at the GEC (1.877.263.9300) so we can chat with you about it. Thanks!

Hi Somerlea,
Thanks for the info. I’ve been trying all day to add my yoga collective to the free MindBody DOT service, but it hasn’t been working.
FInally, I was able to chat with a support person, and they said that this service (as well as the PLUS service) is no longer available.
So, Nora, no, it doesn’t look like you can list your studio either unless you sign up to be a full-blown MindBody client.
The support person did say that they are working with Lululemon to create a free listing service, but they don’t know when that will be available. Do you know, Somerlea?
Thanks!
Juli

PLEASE android app! The MBO app for android is awful and this is literally the ONLY thing I miss about my iPhone since switching. Please please please!

Comment by paige — June 24, 2013 @ 12:44 pm

Our studio is showing up on the app but showing zero classes offered. We are linked with mindbody as well? Something isn’t reading the schedule correctly? Suggestions?

Comment by Jillian — June 26, 2013 @ 5:03 am

Thanks for reaching out Jillian. The app updates every 24 hours, so if you recently switched on the option via Mindbody, it might take a bit of time. We’re also implemnting updates as well go, so make sure you also have the most updated version. If you’ve done all of this and the classes are still not showing, I’d recommend reaching out to appsupport@lululemon.com

Hi,
I would like to added my yoga classes to OM finder. Please let me know how I can do this.

Thanks,
Sheena

Comment by Sheena — June 30, 2013 @ 3:11 pm

Hey Sheena,
If your studio uses MindBody, you simply need to turn the ‘locator’ switch on. If you’re not with MindBody, you can add your studio’s information through the ‘suggest a studio’ tab. Thanks for reaching out!

To avoid the expense of developibg an Android app, just give us a mobile website or a web site with a responsive design. Don’t waste koney on any app development.

Comment by Neal Wright — July 23, 2013 @ 5:58 pm

Hi,

How do I get myself and my classes listed on the app please?

Comment by Hannah — July 30, 2013 @ 12:44 pm

Hey Hannah,

We are currently working with MindBody to pull studio information, teachers and schedules. At this time we are not able to feature teacher schedules that are not connected to a MindBody studio. We are always looking to elevate and I will share this information with the team. Thanks for checking in!

Hi there,
You have to reach out to MindBody as studio requests get fed through their system. You can check out their website at http://www.mindbodyonline.com!

Yoga is a very fine thing,Especially trainers they really bother it and find it quiet good.
I am liking this article and i guess this is the thing which can help us in getting some proper answer.
