meet the specialized-lululemon team

women's cycling team - specialized

The minute we mixed all-star athletes and badass bikes we were bound to develop a schoolgirl crush (sweat is the way to our heart, after all).

We are beyond stoked to support the Specialized-lululemon cycling team so we jumped at the first chance to spend a little one-on-one time with them. We headed down to Carlsbad, California to hang out with the ladies at their first-ever training camp. They brought the hard work, laughter and inspiring stories - we brought the yoga (special shout out to local ambassadors, Julie Rader and Katie Brauer, who led daily yoga practices for the team).

Here’s a glimpse of our time with the gals in Cali - we’re confident you’ll be inspired (and fall in love with them too).

Can’t get enough? We’ll be following the team on and off their bikes in the upcoming months. Until then... ride on!

Will the Lululemon/Specialized kit be available for purchase? Many lulu fans who cycle would love it!

Comment by Rian Jensen — February 28, 2012 @ 6:43 am

Agreed! I would love to purchase a Lululemon/Specialized kit… Is Specialized making the jersey?

Comment by Michele Kitzmiller — February 28, 2012 @ 8:27 am

I’m in love! SWOON! And joining the kit fanclub! After running became painful I’ve turned to biking (and spinning classes) for my cardio high. I really love that you’re venturing into this area of development and support! Ride on!

Comment by erin @WELL in L.A. — February 28, 2012 @ 11:08 am

About time someone made a nice looking women’s cycling kit. I hope this kit will be available soon.

Comment by Terry — February 28, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

Hey guys, a little birdie told me these kits will, in fact, be available for purchase online! Stay tuned for the details!

Comment by Allessia — February 28, 2012 @ 3:04 pm

Yay! Finally a great looking women’s cycling kit. I really hope its available for purchase online!

Comment by Jenn — February 29, 2012 @ 8:22 am

It would be so great if this kit were available online eventually..it’s so difficult to find great looking/feeling women’s riding clothes. A pair of lululemon riding pants with a chamois would be a dream come true!

Comment by ericka — February 29, 2012 @ 9:17 am

Hey lets not forget the guys, I have two Specialized bikes and love Lulu gear

Comment by Dan — February 29, 2012 @ 10:14 am

I agree, as much as your “cycling gear” that you currently have online is nice, it’s not functional as anything other than as casual commuting gear, and then at low speeds, for those of us who enjoy cycling for more than those purposes, this kit would be wonderful, or if not a cross promotion some lulu cycling gear that is to this standard.

Please Lulu, up your standards in your cycling gear, you won’t regret it! (PS, Padded inseams are a wonderful thing!)

Comment by Amanda — February 29, 2012 @ 10:29 am

WOW – a Lululemon kit – awesome!
can’t wait to see on line – you’ve got a customer!

Comment by Ginny — February 29, 2012 @ 10:55 am

Very cool that lulu is getting behind womens cycling. It’s a tough industry to be a pro but it’s sponsorships like this where both sides gain a lot. I’m excited to see where this partnership ends up. Don’t forget to make some gear for the guys also :)

Comment by Pete — February 29, 2012 @ 2:03 pm

WOW! Finally my favorite workout wear for my favorite workout and sport! What a great combination. I would love to purchase the cycle kit but also equally important, how can i join these awesome group of gals on a ride?

Comment by Andreia — February 29, 2012 @ 2:43 pm

I had read about the lulu team on a cycling site and secretly hoped for the possibility of a lulu kit of my own…. will my secret dream come true???? I am a yogi, runner, and rider…. can lulu support all of my ambitions??????

Comment by Meg — February 29, 2012 @ 4:58 pm

I love lulu gear and I make multiple use of many things. I spin, I run, I cycle I do yoga..oh yes and ride horses. I have a bunch of Lulu gear to do all of this except outdoor cycling. I even have Lulu riding tights and a riding jacket…horse stuff but no cycling stuff….really!!
I would love some serious Lulu cycling gear, jerseys and shorts would be perfect. Zip up short sleeved jerseys that have a collar I could also wear riding ponies too!

Comment by Kathy — February 29, 2012 @ 5:13 pm

Serious Lulu cycling gear!!! I can hardly for the kit to be available. There might be fewer serious women cyclists than men, but we buy more stuff! Bring it on.

Comment by Stephanie — March 2, 2012 @ 10:28 am

So happy to see two of my absolute favorite brands teaming up. I hope the Lulu cycling gear is available soon.

Comment by Crystal — March 2, 2012 @ 10:56 am

Specialized body geometry + Lululemon style = cycling kits we’d all love to wear for serious road cycling!

Comment by The Bombshell — March 6, 2012 @ 12:41 am

lululemon made a cycling jersey a few years ago and it is my absolute favorite! any chance these will come back it is very light weight sleeveless and flattering!! which most cycling jerseys lack but of course what would you expect coming from lululemon?

Comment by jenine — March 6, 2012 @ 3:34 am

My prayers were answered. Lu Lu cycling gear!!!! Sweeeeet!!!

Comment by Karen — March 6, 2012 @ 6:54 am

When? Where? I can’t wait to get my hands on this kit!

Comment by Claire — March 6, 2012 @ 8:21 am

Seriously! Lu Lu cycling gear!!! This just made my day. I’m a huge fan and really no one makes workout gear like you. I look forward to some women’s spec. cycling attire for more serious riders. I have no doubt it has the potential to be great!

Comment by Kelly — March 6, 2012 @ 9:17 am

LOVE the kits – can’t wait to get one!

Comment by Cindy — March 6, 2012 @ 12:09 pm

Hi Jenine,
We did see a similar capsule a while back so I don’t know how many similar pieces we’ll see this time around but I’ll certainly share your thoughts for a very light weight sleeveless top!

Hi Claire,
We’ve heard whispers these kits be available for purchase online! Keep a close eye out for more details on the release.

Guys: I’m stoked. Love you Clara!! PLease have more news on the Team and PLEASE let us have access to buying the Jerseys & Shorts. They rock! Don’t forget guys cycle & do Yoga too. If it’s to be the same standards as you use on your other gear (and I know it would be)your brand would be worn and so out there on all the streets of the world. Please issue a kit (even if it’s limited edition!!!)

Comment by Ted Horski — March 6, 2012 @ 3:08 pm

I am a Run Ambassador for Lululemon, a road & mtn cyclist (rockin’ the Specialized FS Stumpjumper for the last 8 years!), and a bikram yoga fan, amongst many other outdoor athletic passions. I would love to represent two brands who have provided amazing functionality and joy to the sports that bring me utter happiness and fulfillment. A lulu/specialized bike kit has me so excited to share the love on the East Coast!!

Comment by Laura — March 6, 2012 @ 6:34 pm

I hope those are bib shorts!!! If not, make them. As a cyclist and a loyal Lululemon customer, it would be wonderful if you brought on this line. Pro cycling gear for women has been good from sugoi and Castelli, but you guys could bring it home!!!

Comment by Natasha — March 7, 2012 @ 4:02 am

How do we join the cycling team? Where or when can we purchase the kit?

Comment by Krista — March 11, 2012 @ 11:38 am

How do we join the cycling team? And do you have a men’s team?

Comment by Jeff — March 13, 2012 @ 12:58 pm

Hey Jeff and Krista!
My guess would be lots of hardwork and dedication! These gals are professionals – in fact most of them will be competing at the Olympics!

The kit will be available for purchase online in the upcoming months!

Comment by Allessia — March 13, 2012 @ 2:21 pm

gahh this makes me mad excited for the olympics!!!!

Comment by Diana — March 15, 2012 @ 10:21 am

Can you please notify me as soon as the kits are available for purchase?

Allessia: Do you know what site will sell them?

Comment by Dan S — March 31, 2012 @ 7:07 pm

Hey Dan,

The kits will be available right here on lululemon.com. The exact dates are still TBD but keep your eyes peeled – should be soon.

Comment by Allessia — April 2, 2012 @ 12:34 pm

Wow!!! These ate appropriately wonderful kits for some really wonderful women. As I waited at the start line to a big cycle last week I was in the very small minority as a woman. I was so
proud to be there, mixing it with the boys and it is women like these who inspire me. I have become a lululemon fan since discovering their stuff on a trip to Canada last yr (they really are only just taking off in Australia- crazy I know!) because you guys have absolutely nailed the combo of fun, function and flattering fit. Unfortunately since taking up cycling I haven’t been able to find the same quality + comfort (+ style!) so I’m suuuuuuper excited to hear this kit is coming out- thankyou lululemon- for promoting wonens cyling and for bringing the kit to us mere mortals as well- I can’t wait!!!! Keep us all posted!

Comment by Lucie — April 2, 2012 @ 12:49 pm

That would be so cool if Lululemon made a batch of cycling clothes too. I would for sure buy it.

Comment by Scott — April 2, 2012 @ 11:01 pm

This is fantastic news! Been a big road cycling fan and rider for years and decided this year to make a real effort to follow women’s racing too, although the media coverage is so this it makes it pretty hard!

Any chances we’ll be able to buy the black Specialized team hoodie? I have a ton of actual cycling kit but I want to support the team with my casual wardrobe!

Comment by Sera — April 2, 2012 @ 11:35 pm

Will the kit be available in Australia? Please please!

Comment by Eleanor — April 8, 2012 @ 4:30 am

Lululemon kit will be fantastic for all cyclists out there, please please please keep us posted!

Comment by Dennise Yeh — April 8, 2012 @ 5:36 pm

Hi Eleanor,
A little birdy did chirp about the kits coming to Australia. We’ll keep our Australian guests in the loop once we hear some more information on these hot cakes!

Any word on the date of the kit arrival will be? The season is here!

Comment by Sobes — April 23, 2012 @ 9:05 pm

Hey Sobes,

I haven’t heard when the kits may make their triumphant entrance, but you’re right, summer is just around the corner, so keep your eyes out. You can also sign up for a product notification online or for your local store (or, go wild and sign up for both!) That way, the second they come in, you’ll know.

Hi Ellen,
I don’t have a confirmed date for the release of the kits yet but rumour has it it will be sometime in the next few months! It’s amazing to see your passion for all things yoga, running and cycling! Do you have any races planned for this year?
