Our good friend Alexis would like to share the magic that is complimentary hemming.

Right off the bat, I have a confession to make. At 5’10”, I rarely need to get my pants hemmed. I actually suffer from a different problem called “my-pants-are-usually-too-freaking-short”, meaning I spend most of the year in a mini-skirt (*please note this is a lie). However, I do have some pals less Amazonian than myself and I have heard how difficult it can be for more petite ladies to get the right pant length.

We make both regular length and tall length in some of our core pant styles (and yes, tall length is ACTUALLY long. As in 35” inseams). We also offer complimentary hemming on our pants.

That’s right, let me say it again (it just feels so good): we offer complimentary hemming on our pants.

so, what do you need to know about complimentary hemming?

1. where do I go to get my pants hemmed?
Remember that episode of Friends where Chandler goes to Joey’s tailor and weirdness ensues? This is a lot more straightforward (and less creepy) than that. Go into any of our stores and ask an educator to pin up the hem to your liking. Try and bring the shoes you plan on wearing with your pants so that you can get a perfect fit. Once you drop off your pants, they should be ready for pickup within approximately five business days.

2. how can I get the perfect fit?
The educators in the store are fit experts so don't be afraid to ask for their input. While we do complimentary hemming, we do not offer complimentary alterations…so make sure things are looking good in the waist, hips and thighs. Please also note that certain items with detailing at the hem (like drawcords) can be hemmed but the drawcord detail will not be “re-done” – it will be finished with a standard hem. There is the odd item, like something with a zippered ankle, that cannot be hemmed. For more info on which garments are specifically available for hemming, please contact our Guest Education Centre.

3. I bought my pants online and they are too long. what can I do?
If you bought your pants online, no worries – just head to any of our stores to get them hemmed. Looking for the closest store to your home? Check out our store finder to see what’s in your hood.

4. are my tops invited to the party?
You know it! If you have a top that is too long in the body or sleeves, go to your closest store and chat with an educator to see if your garment fits the bill for complimentary hemming.

5. what else do I need to know?
Are your pants a couple years old but you’ve suddenly shrunk three inches? No problem – we can hem pants at any time and a receipt isn’t necessary. The only thing we do ask is that you bring your pants freshly washed.

So that's that...the need-to-know info on our hemming. See you bending (and not tripping) on the mat.

When you arrive in a new city for the first time, it can take a few days to get familiar with the neighbourhoods and figure out where everything is (and where to get a good cup of coffee!). Want in on a little secret? Every city that has a lululemon also inherently has its own local "athletic tourist bureau" (aka amazing store educators) that can tell you where to find a yoga class, what to check out while you're in town, and where to find the best locally roasted coffee beans or handmade veggie burger in town. If you're lucky and your trip coincides with a store's weekly event, you could also have your own local's tour of the city which includes a leader, friendly people in the community, and healthy snacks!

Last week, while visiting the lovely city of San Francisco, I joined the lululemon Grant Ave. store on their Thursday night run. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous about dropping in, seeing as I'm a new runner [read my blog on the No Excuses Run Club], but the Grant Ave. run club info said "all levels welcome" so I decided to check it out.

5:55 p.m: people started gathering inside and outside the store.

The first few people I talked to were all first-timers to this run club, too. This is Lucy from the UK, who first heard about lululemon in Peru while trekking through the Andes with llamas.

This run was the first time Lucy took her new Run:Speed shorts out for a spin. Lucy, if you're reading this - what was the verdict?

Our group split into two: a 5km and a 10km group. The route for both was handed out on a piece of paper. Very helpful for newcomers in unfamiliar territory!

Our run started off by running (uphill!) through Chinatown.

We ran along the Embarcadero and under the Bay Bridge. It was a beautiful sunny evening and I was so happy to be outside!

We looped back through downtown. I was dazzled by tall buildings - a little different than the seawall I'd gotten used to running on in Vancouver.

The run ended back at the store where we stretched it out.

Fresh fruit and electrolytes were waiting for us.

Me stretching next to Matt, who ran the 10 km route. I had actually already stretched and eaten lots of fruit at this point but wanted an action shot.

Ciara's an educator at Grant Ave. and was also documentating the run club for the Grant Ave. run club Facebook group.

Meet Clay and Jessica, run club leaders and planners!

It was Canada Day and I was understandably drawn to Kim. Yup, she's a fellow Canadian but currently lives in the U.S. This was a great way to spend Canada Day, eh Kim?

Paige is training for the Chicago marathon. This is her on the final stretch of the 10 km. What the photo doesn't show is after she got back to lululemon, she kept running! Her training schedule called for more than 10 km that night. Go Paige go!

All in all, running through the streets of San Francisco with the lululemon run club was a great way to explore the city, meet some new people, and sweat once a day. To the Grant Ave. run club and all the fellow runners I talked to - thanks for sharing your amazing city with me! I'll be back.

If you're travelling this summer and there's a lululemon near by, make sure to check out when and what their weekly events are.

An outdoor yoga class at Bryant Park in New York last July.

how we began

lululemon began in 1998, after our founder Chip Wilson took a yoga class and recognized the need for clothes that move and breathe with you as you move through all kinds of yoga poses.

More than 10 years later, lululemon has grown into an international retailer with locations across Canada, the U.S., Australia and Hong Kong, and yoga continues to be at the heart of everything we do.

the gift of yoga

Did you know that every lululemon store and showroom offers weekly, complimentary yoga classes? We provide the space, the mats, and amazing instruction from teachers in your community.

Sometimes the classes are outside! This one's from Kits Beach near Vancouver last summer.

An in-store yoga class is from lululemon Galleria in Dallas, Tx.

how to find a class near you

To find out when your local lululemon's weekly yoga class is taking place, navigate to the store's section online here: http://www.lululemon.com/stores/. It will be listed on their event calendar, along with other fun classes or events that the store is offering.

Hope to see you at a class soon!
