what’s up with kale

It’s that dark leafy green that’s taking over produce aisles, giving the potato a run for its money (as far as chips go) and is turning fruit smoothies green with the promise of a disguised dose of nutrients. Fort Worth keyleader, Cami Hamann, tells us what’s up with kale. reap the benefits of kale Momma’s right […]

our just-because love list

We don’t think we need any reason to share the things we love. Here’s what’s been making us think, act, create and laugh this month. From their blog to this stunning book, we’re soaking up everything Design Sponge has to offer.   How many Downward Dogs ‘til we can yoga-breakdance like Alex Yde?   Whisker […]

refreshing seasonal salads

Summer, if it’s done right, is alternating bouts of heating up and cooling down; and being so busy having fun that you’ve barely got time to splash water on your face. Summer is also about gorging yourself on the juiciest fruits that nature has to offer. I love the way fruit refreshes me – it’s like a big drink of water and a shot of energy – combine that with a sharp cheese like feta or blue and you have a healthy and hedonistic summer snack.

mint is cool

Mint is often neglected; an aesthetic garnish to be pushed to the edge of the plate as we devour our desserts. Mint is so much more: it’s a colour; it’s an app; it’s where they literally make money and it’s easy to grow on the patio. This summer, let’s start to give mint the respect it deserves.

mother’s day brunch tips

We all made a big fuss over Kate’s and William’s royal nuptials. Your mom’s kind of a big deal too, so treat her like royalty. For all the meals she’s cooked, all the eggy chins she’s wiped, why not put a little extra effort into mom’s brunch this mother’s day? After all, it’s the most important meal of the weekend.

fine desert wine (that’s not a typo)

We’re celebrating the return of colour this summer and what better way to celebrate the arrival of Grapeseed than with a bottle or three of vino. It could just be the wine talking but we think it’s a pretty sassy shade. Grapeseed, a colour and so much more. I grew up in Oliver, a little town in the South Okanagan. It’s the “Wine Capital of Canada” and its semi-arid climate produces some of the most incredible wines around. Wine is a part of who I am. My mum has been in the industry for years…

munich & paris, if you please

We adore our designers. The team recently left the office behind and “worked” in Europe for a week. (Tragic, right?) We asked Katie, our accessories designer, if we could tag along. (She mentioned luon and a faux-fur vest in the same sentence. Ooh la la.)

pavlova: light, delicious, perfect

We eat a lot of birthday cake at the office. Almost daily, songs break out, people flock, and a decadent dessert is devoured in record time.  This week was Lesia’s turn. Nothing says “it’s that time of year again already?” like a homemade treat and a song. Pavlova is the other birthday cake in my house. (I married an Australian.) […]

lesia’s favourite iphone apps

If something cool is on the rise, Lesia knows about it. She’s the resident maven on the Digital team and the one for info on just about anything. Naturally, we wanted her list of favourite iPhone apps. Get out your phone and get ready for her list of must-haves.
