the pursuit of handstands

Practice, practice, and all is coming – Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

Even though I had been practicing yoga on and off since I took my first class in 1998, I used to think that I would not be a legit yogi until I had mastered Adho Mukha Vrksasana, aka handstand. Two things happened that changed my mind.

nutrition tips for marathon training

That’s right, marathon-training season is upon us. While the right shoes, fancy pants, a committed running partner and clinic or training plan are key to a successful run we don’t often hear people ask ‘So, what are you eating?” Being a self-professed ‘Nutrition Nerd’, Jacqueline asked Georgia Morley (lululemon founder Chip Wilson’s chef and holistic nutrition super star) for some expert advice.

rick hansen’s ‘many in motion’

25 years ago, Rick Hansen set himself the goal of touring the world in his wheelchair. Over two years, he wheeled himself across four continents, through 34 countries; wheeling the gruelling equivalent of two marathons a day. His Man In Motion World Tour inspired people around the world and raised awareness of the potential of people with disabilities (it also inspired the Grammy nominated song St. Elmo’s Fire – listen to the lyrics – that’s the core of so many uplifting workout playlists).

lululemon is…..jenna hills

A realization that she needed to restore integrity into her life was the gender-confused canary in the coalmine for our North US Training Manager, Jenna Hills. A realization that she was dancing the “mom dance” was equally as surprising.

it runs in the family

Sometimes you just have to trust that mother knows best. That trust may be hard to find when she wakes you up at the crack of dawn to go running. Since she began running seriously two years ago, Jordan Gardner- the daughter of our uber-fit VP of Global Brand, Deanne – has come to appreciate her mom’s early morning ritual. (Apparently Grandma has something to do with it too.)

kathy runs like a mother

You’re well aware that Mother’s Day is on Sunday, May 8th. We’ve been excited to share this essay for weeks. Try not to tearing up after reading about Kathy’s achievement as a first-time mom and newbie runner. It was nearly impossible, like training for your first marathon in 100 degree weather.

think dan pink

Today we say hello to Citron and Pink Mist! It’s no secret that we love pink around here but you may not know about our other love – this Pink. If you haven’t checked out any of Dan Pink’s work, we strongly suggest you do. His books, his blog – everything the man touches seems to turn to gold – pink gold.

the road to boston: gina dicello

Next up on the road to Boston is Gina DiCello, Rush Street ambassador and a real firecracker. We stumbled upon her blog before we met over email. Before long it became clear to us: we want to be her friend. See for yourself. You probably will too. (We’re pretty sure she’d happily have you over for dinner, share some training tips with you and send you home with a recipe.)

Read about her ridiculously large BHAG and how yoga has taken her training to new heights.

renovate your goals

You’ve probably heard that we are doing some behind-the-scenes renovations to our online store. (What? You didn’t hear? Read more about it.) We have big goals. We’ve been assessing where we’re at and the first step in making our goal a reality is re-platforming our site. (Sounds glamourous, right? It’s not.) We need to change a few things – hence, the renovation.

our no shame workout playlist

What started as an entertaining facebook thread around the office has turned into a hilarious soundtrack, a big hairy audacious playlist, if you will.

We’re going on record here. If you can honestly say you don’t own this music already, you can claim we recommended you invest in it. We won’t tell.
