size matters

Here at lululemon, we are constantly striving to offer you great gear to sweat in that is easy to shop for. We recently took a close look at our sizing and found a little refining was in order for our small and XXL sizes. As a result, we have updated the fit of our shirts, pants, hoodies, jackets and shorts in sizes small and XXL and we want you to know.

What does this mean for you? If you are used to wearing our men’s size small, our “new” small fits a little closer to the body. If you are an XXL, you’ll notice a little bit more room. If you are a medium, large or XL, you should’ve stopped reading this already won’t experience any changes.

kahuna shorts

The Kahuna Shorts are classics and an all time favourite amongst our male guests. It is perfect for golf, date night, and everywhere in between. The fit is classic, slim and extremely comfortable. You might be drawn to the Kahuna shorts if one or more of the following applies to you:

• You treat golf like your religion.
• You enjoy a good Sunday brunch only complete with Mimosas.
• You took Thursday and Friday off last week and did not move from the same spot on the couch in four days while watching Phil take home the Master's.

• You have been to Italy or would like to go.
• You believe golf attire is suitable for all occasions especially weddings.
• You have a slimmer build, and therefore like a slimmer fit.

You might also love the Kahuna Shorts if you enjoy these details in a short:

cadence shorts

The Cadence Short is a new style we created to update the function of the Chief Short from last year. It fits similar to the Chief Short and is more relaxed and accommodates a bigger build than the Kahuna Short. Our designers also updated the function of the Cadence Short to be a rugged do-anything, anywhere short. You will probably love the Cadence shorts if one or more of the following applies to you:

• You love the outdoors.
• You enjoy climbing trees.
• Your best friend really is a dog named Lucy.

• You prefer sweating in dirt by hiking, rock climbing, and playing slo-pitch.

A couple, who sweats together, stays HEALTHY together!

I would like to introduce to you Liz and her fiancé. Liz is an educator at the GEC and recently enrolled her fiancé to attend beach yoga with her. Weather and schedule permitting, he ended up attending two more times and did a circuit training class with her. Liz then shared with me that they do try to hit the gym and go for runs together. She says they both are competitive and it adds a different aspect to their time together. Their story inspired me. Why not love working out WITH the one you love?

What he liked about his Metal Vent Tech SS:

- He was sweating hard during their Circuit Training class but he didn't feel the moisture. Why? The fabric is treated to wick sweat.

- As the class progressed, he noticed that he was still relatively cool. Good to know that the added detail of integrated mesh venting was doing it's job.

- With Rob from Endorphin Junkies putting him through squats and lunges, there were no itchy seams to distract his from his task at hand. Men: you don't know what flat seams can do for you until you try!

We sent out an email this week with education points on how to figure out how our men's hoodies will fit on your dad. We only had room for three main education points in the email and on the home page, so here is the men's hoodies director's cut! I consulted Steve at the Guest Education Centre for the facts about fit and function since he owns and wears both the Full Time Hoodie and the Protagonist Jacket and asked him to add his own first-hand knowledge of the products. His comments are below.

1. lots of room

Our men's hoodies have a more boxy shape than the women's ones you may be used to, which fit quite close to the body. There is more room in the arm, chest, and back areas of our men's hoodies. When wearing the hoodie, your dad should be able to easily move his arms. If it feels tight across the back or chest, try going up a size.

Steve says: The Protagonist Jacket fits much slimmer than the Full Time Hoodie. As a result, most men may find that they are more comfortable dropping down a size in the Full Time because they don't need quite as much room as it provides. However, most guys will probably chose to stick with their regular size in the Protagonist Jacket. For example, I wear a medium in most of our products, including the Protagonist Jacket, but I wear a small in the Full Time hoodies.

2. dads like pockets

Like most of our products, our men's hoodies have well-placed and deep pockets. The Full Time Hoodie has a zippered pocket on the chest for storing dad stuff like coins, toothpicks, or a Tim Hortons gift card.

Steve says: The pockets in the Protagonist Jacket are mesh lined, which allows for breath ability in addition to stash space. The FT Hoodie has a secure 'hook and loop fastener' (that stuff that sticks like a burr to dog fur and makes a scratchy sound) coin pocket which works great for meter money or whatever!

3. won't shrink

Our hoodies are washed three times before the zipper is added, so it will stay flat and won't buckle after washing. Also, Lycra is added to the fabric so you won't have to worry about the size changing or the colour fading.

Steve says: The Protagonist Jacket comes in Classic Sport Grey & Heathered Sky, which are two pretty informal colours that are easy to match with the Chief Shorts or even with jeans. For a slightly dressier look, I'd recommend the black hoodie, because it looks sharp, it's easy to match, and is always popular with the fellas. When it comes to sizes, don't count on them shrinking, because they won't! If it fits in the store it will fit - it's a winner!

4. double-lined hood

The hood is lined with double cotton, which gives it lots of structure and will definitely keep your dad's head warm on chilly evenings.

Steve says: Although the Protagonist Jacket's hood is double-lined, it's still thinner than the hood on the FT Hoodie. It will shape itself to your head even better than the FT hood, so this is the one for guys who like to throw the hood up from time to time.
