Sheena with the BHAG she shared in June. Read on for an update!

Setting big, hairy, audacious goals (BHAGs) are exciting. They make us dream of what is possible and then push us to achieve it. In June 2010, we asked some rockstar lululemon athletica employees to set (and write down) some BHAGs. As with any other goal, it’s a good idea to review your BHAGs on a regular basis. Sheena sat down with Matt, a member of our Leadership & Development team, to review her BHAG – let’s listen in:

Matt: Your BHAG of speaking fluent Italian, Spanish, and French by Oct 2014 is awesome! Tell me about your vision that this supports.

Sheena: Well, in 10 years, by Jan 2020, I will be the Director of International Business at lululemon athletica. I also want to set the intention of being able to connect and speak with our guests, ambassadors, and store neighbours directly to really build those authentic relationships – rather than having a translator.

Matt: Sounds like this BHAG is really aligned to your other goals. Was this your first time looking at your BHAG after you wrote it down?

Sheena: Actually no. I reviewed it earlier and wanted to take being fluent in Italian out because I knew it would be really hard. But BHAGs are intended to be hard and push you, so I just had to prioritize how I was going to tackle it.

Matt: So what’s your plan? How are you going to tackle this bad boy?

Sheena: I am going to master Spanish first, then take on French, and then Italian.

Matt: It’s good to start with something that helps build confidence in your ability to accomplish your BHAG. And by the time you hit Italian, you’ll be only one language away! Your goal will be so close to being accomplished! But, before we get too ahead of ourselves, how to plan on mastering Spanish?

Sheena: Believe it or not, I just registered for Spanish lessons at Point Grey Community Centre. I am doing the classes with a friend as well, so we can hold each other accountable.

Matt: Having someone to hold you accountable to your goals is key. To help you really understand the language, you may also consider teaching it to someone else. That could look like quizzing your friend before and after class, or teaching your colleagues a new word each week. Either of those can really help solidify your learning and help enroll others in supporting your goal.

Sheena: Does that mean you are ready to learn some Spanish then?

Matt: Si!

*high five*

Do you have a question around goal-setting that you'd like some guidance on? Visit the lululemon Facebook wall on Sept. 8th at 4 pm PST and ask Matt! Event details are here: http://www.facebook.com/askagoalcoacher.. Hope to see you on the wall!

Sheena's co-friend Jayme with their dance teacher, Geneen

Some people call them coworkers, but we like to think of them as cofriends. Yep, they are the peeps that share a laugh at our desk, keep us sane when the going gets tough and hit up the daily Starbucks run with us. It's with this spirit of camaraderie in mind, that Jayme and I decided to take our friendship out of the office and into the dance studio.

We embarked on a journey to Drive Dance Centre for an Intro to Street Jazz class. While we have yet to be trained in the art of wiggling jazz hands, our fabulous instructor Geneen is slowly but surely whipping our plies into shape.

Jayme warming up the jazz hands and Geneen ready to bust a move in her Gather and Crows

We warm up boot-camp style and then get our groove on, singing along to the Black Eyed Peas. The best part about the whole experience is having someone there to share a laugh with. Don't get me wrong, we take our dance moves seriously. It's just that leaping across the floor solo isn't so intimidating when there's a friendly face and encouraging word waiting for you on the other side.

So week after week, Jayme and I do what we do best...dance, sing, floss and travel.

Above: Meet Sheena, one of my brilliant and hard working co-workers!

Each week on the blog our goal is to introduce you to a new member of the lululemon team - someone who works either on our retail floor or behind the scenes at our offices, warehouses, or factories. Today we'd like to introduce Sheena, our Ecommerce Operations Coordinator - aka the person who makes sure that everything in our online store works flawlessly!

How did you come to lululemon?

I had a friend in college who worked for lululemon, it was my first full time gig after I graduated.

What do you love about your job?

The people and culture!!!! I’m the person I am today because people in the store (Yorkdale) and in this office gave me feedback that helped me grow in to a leader. I will use this opportunity for a shameless shout out to Elise, Janice, Kiko, Misha, Vesna, Diana, Bree and everyone who helped me grow - thanks!!!!

What is the greatest piece of advice you have been given in your career?

Great things happen when nobody cares who gets the credit.

What are your tips for balancing work, your personal life, and fitness?

Schedule time for fitness in to your calendar, invite others with you to hold you accountable, make your plans for the weekend early in the week but be flexible enough to change them. Above all have integrity with your commitments. Nobody wants to be around someone they can’t count on.

If you could trade places with anyone for a week, who would it be?

Johnny Depp…and then I would spend the rest of the week staring at myself in any and all reflective surfaces.

If you were trapped on a desert island with only one piece of lululemon to wear for your entire stay on the island, what would it be and why?

I’m in love with Wunder Unders but since it’s only one piece I’ll say my gather tank dress so all my bits are covered when I’m rescued.

Interested in joining the team? We're on the hunt for an amazingly seasoned online leader to join us here in Vancouver as the Ecommerce Manager. View the job posting here: http://tbe.taleo.net/NA1/ats/careers/requisition.jsp

Got questions? Drop us a line in the comments!
