Meet Andrew. He's doing wheelies on his BMX or enjoying a guerilla yoga class when he isn't rocking lululemon's Business Solutions team!

what's something unique or surprising about you?

Some years back, I quit a lucrative but "stifling" career in the U.S. I sold my cars, boxed up my "stuff", and went on a walkabout. My personal world tour included time in Hong Kong, Atlanta, New York, New Zealand, and a tiny island off Lombok, Indonesia, with no roads and running water. Finally, I moved north to Canada.

Sounding like the men’s version of Eat Pray Love? I’ll stop there. Short story: I like where I am now.

what's one of your biggest passions?

I love helping others remove imagined hurdles or barriers in their path, be that in life or work journeys. I can help friends or colleagues get that "lightbulb" moment by listening, sharing, gently suggesting or guiding in my own not-in-your-face way.

what's a goal you achieved that you're proud of?

I used to be quite introverted and would get anxiety when out of my comfort zone. I still am at times…that has been a life challenge. Traveling alone really opened me up and pushed me out of my comfort zone.

how does your role elevate lululemon?

The Business Solutions Analysts and Project Managers support the end to end process and systems: from raw design concepts, product life planning with mills and factories, to our distribution centre and stores. All the exciting projects come to our team in IT first, from process changes to support and new system initiatives. We're a hard working and multi-talented crew. How will we elevate to the next level? Thru focused training, process tweaks, increased collaboration with our partners at the Store Support Centre and the stores.

what is your favourite way to sweat?

This summer it was BMX racing. My mate and I coach and mentor the young kids at the North Vancouver BMX racing track. Seeing 5 year olds with helmets bigger that their bodies zooming round the berms and smiling as they win trophies was a great experience. It was a great way to give back to the sport I love. Then I hit the track to prove I still have it! I won a few national BMX races this summer and have the 5-foot tall gold plastic trophies to prove it.

Editors Note: I had to ask Andrew about his awesome hair. Turns out he only washes it about once a week in Gastown puddles, adds KMS paste and sleeps standing up. Sounds like an easy enough a recipe for achieving dreamy locks right? You're welcome.

Each Monday we introduce someone from lululemon to you. Who do you want to meet next?

Where will your next downward dog be?

As sand squidged between my toes, I made my way into downward dog and caught a great upside-down view of English Bay. Around me friends and brand-new friends let their city stresses go as we laughed off the weather and pointed our toes up into the sky for three-legged dog. Somewhere to my left a flash went off - just a Swedish author, working on a book about Vancouver culture, taking a picture. Welcome to guerilla yoga.

Confused? Don't be! Guerilla yoga is an impromptu public meet-up of yogis, visitors, and sometimes curious passers-by, in a public space for the purpose of enjoying a yoga class together. The name expresses that this kind of yoga meet-up could happen anywhere, any time, in any space! As part of our Robson store's CGSE community events, we've already hit English Bay, the Vancouver Art Gallery, and the Yaletown Roundhouse Ring. It's a great way to see new spaces in our city from a perspective you've never taken before. All you need is a mat, some water, and an open mind.

Did you spot us last week at the Art Gallery?

So how do you go about checking out our next guerilla yoga adventure? If you're plugged in, the word will go out on our Twitter and Facebook sites. If you're in the area, grab your mat and a water bottle and hop it over to our meetup space! Not in the local area? No worries - why not organize your own guerilla yoga event? All you need is a public space, someone who is comfortable leading an all-levels yoga class, and a way of getting the word out - from a newsletter to a last-minute tweet.

Ever been to a guerilla yoga event, spur of the moment flash mob, or tweetup? Share your tips for organizing or joining in with us!
