I am a certified RPM instructor (spin) in Fredericton, NB, Canada. RPM is taught all around the world but is exclusive to GoodLife Fitness in Canada. If you want a hard core high octane workout with great tunes I suggest that you check it out! New release (new music and choreography) launches next week. Give it a try while everyone’s new! It’s addictive and a 50 min high fat/ high calorie burn!

A year ago I walked into a spin class at UpDog Yoga&Fitness in West Hollywood, CA. and never looked back at the gym again. I was addicted and was inspired to become a spin instructor.
I even changed my day job and am happier than ever at lululemon athletica Beverly Hills!
Sandra Harrison’s class was one I did not think I could “get through”, and soon learned it was all mind over matter. She stressed the importance of taking the class at “your own pace” and to “just show up”, day after day I have learned strength, endurance, and have done away with excuses and limitations when it comes to believing in myself as an athlete-which I have carried through into my life outside of class too.
Sandra’s class is a moving meditation, she pays attention to form and most of all your FOCUS.
Spin class for me is now a lifestyle, the group fitness aspect has become like a supportive family to me as we all “show up” for each other and feed off of the pack’s energy.

I think Crunch in Washington, DC has excellent spin classes. Colleen Fisher (Colleen Fisher’s Group Cycle Class https://www.facebook.com/pages/Colleen-Fishers-Group-Cycle-Class/145063845505202) is AWESOME. She always has terrific music and just runs a real upbeat class. She also gives out inspirational quotes and gets you thinking when you are riding to the top of a hill.

And then there is the home alternative. To those of us with a spin bike at home, I take a live, online streamed class every Wednesday morning at 9:15am at http://www.emglivefitness.com. Liz Clingham teaches a Jersey Cycle and is awesome. Great class every week and the best thing…only $5.00. Also available on-demand if I can’t make it live.

Jason’s 9am Sunday spin at Sweat Shoppe, North Hollywood, CA. I can hardly walk afterwards. It’s awesome.

Comment by Lisa — October 14, 2011 @ 8:07 am

Sweat Shop in North Hollywood’s art’s district is a gorgeous new studio, the owners here payed attention to every detail from the friendly and helpful staff at the front desk to the disco lights in the spin room and awesome clothing line (“sweat gangster” t-shirts so cool)!
Sweat Shop feels like a spa when you walk in with candles burning and a , and a nightclub when you spin!
Truly everything you would want out of a boutique spin studio.

Comment by NinaRutsch — October 14, 2011 @ 8:33 am

The Sweat Shoppe in North Hollywood CA is picking up steam. It’s a great, new facility with really great instructors. Jason and Mimi are fantastic. They have a killer sound system and great lights to really get you in the zone. Personally, I love their teaching style. It’s not overly agressive to the point of hurting yourself (going to fast, doing too many moves while on the bike) but gives you a KILLER work out. It sort of sneaks up on you about halfway through the class, but by then your only option is to dig in and make it happen!

Help them get up and running! You won’t regret it.

Comment by Nichole — October 14, 2011 @ 8:35 am

The Sweat Shoppe in North Hollywood , CA is off the chain! Great Music, fun instructors. Love it.

Comment by La-Asia — October 14, 2011 @ 8:40 am

The sweat shoppe is the place I love to go sweat out all my toxins. Ive been to my share of LA studios and this is the place to go. The staff and owners are really nice and the instructors are amazing and are literally the best in LA. If you haven’t tried a sweat cycle class you are def. missing out.

The Sweat Shoppe in North Hollywood. Great studio, awesome bikes and really amazing instructors. I heart Sandra!

Comment by Eliza — October 14, 2011 @ 9:18 am

I’m with a bunch of other commenting here- the Sweat Shoppe is a new spot in L.A. that is really getting it right. I have been spinning here for 10 years and for awhile there the city was lacking in a serious way. So I’m happy to report we have an awesome new studio to enjoy. Clean, great sound, easy to get to, central location, excellent instructors, killer music (we all know how important that is!), etc. Definitely worth checking out!!
Oh, and affordable!

I’ve been an avid spinner for years and it’s a brand new facility. It’s clean, new and the owners, Mimi and Jason are the best. The feeling when you walk in is fantastic. No fuss just fun and sweat.
It’s a must!!! The instructors are all fantastic and give you the attention and instruction. You want.

Made in L.A. fitness is a fantastic place to spin. Andrea Lawent will rock your world. Her class is a rock and roll moving meditation. I’ve been to many studios and they are one of few that offer actual Spinner bikes. They are well maintained and the pedals are tight tight tight. Many studios settle for cheaper bikes, bikes which are a bit un-maintained and bikes that drag on resistance and clips where you fly out. highly recommend her. She’s one of the pioneers of spinning!

Comment by Sally Ellis — October 14, 2011 @ 5:06 pm

ZenGo Fitness in Bethesda Marylandis the most amazing place in the entire Washington DC area. The studio is beautiful, the instructors are so fun and the energy level is amazing and the cycle room is insanely cool. Nothing like it anywhere. Definitely check it out

looking for a spin only studio in washington DC, avid soul-cycler from manhattan looking for something extremely similar.

Comment by mads — January 7, 2012 @ 4:58 pm

Did anyone ever find something extremely similar to soul-cycle in DC?? In the city, not in the surrounding areas?

Comment by Amanda — April 11, 2012 @ 6:57 am

I also would like to try a spin-focused studio in DC. Sadly, I don’t think we have one in the District.

Comment by Ann — May 4, 2012 @ 10:00 am

I just found out about Art of Spyn opening in DC later this summer. They seem to have many Soul Cycle-esque classes, whcih is exactly what I was looking for as a recent NYC transplant http://www.theartofspyn.com/cycling/
