top 10 wanderlust must-haves

When our team hit the Wanderlust yoga festival in Bondville, Vermont, last month they had an amazing time (despite the inclement weather). It was like a sampler pack of yoga styles and music: acro-yoga, vinyasa, chanting and gongs. With plenty more summer still to come and lots more festivals coming too, Paula (our Social Media Specialist) put together her list of essentials to get the most out of upcoming yoga festivals.

1. Wanderlust Rucksack – I was lucky enough to test this backpack before it hit stores.  I loved all of the zipper pockets and the laptop sleeve; plus the built in rain cover came in handy during the unexpected downpours.

2. Skinny Satin Pirouette – I’ve finally found a headband that works for my head; skinny and sticky so it stays in place. We did tons of inversion workshops so this was crucial for keeping my hair out of my face and letting me focus on the pose.

3. The Mat – Cushioned and grippy! After a 12-hour travel day, I was extremely happy I was carrying a comfy mat.

4. Manduka Equa Towel – The towel helped provide a little more cushion over my travel mat when I needed it and soaked up the puddles.

5. iPhone – My lifeline. I was tweeting, facebooking, instagramming and checking-in everywhere.

6. Water Bottle – When you’re doing 4-6 hours of yoga every day, staying hydrated was uber-important.  I switched back and forth between H2O and coconut water.

7. Travel Pooch – Anyone I travel with will tell you I’m more than slightly forgetful. I need a bag I can keep close to my body and easily do my keys-phone-passport-wallet check.

8. Vinyasa Scarf –This magical piece acted as my scarf, towel, wrap, pillow, blanket and rain cover. `

9. Dense Foam Block– I actually didn’t bring this with me, but I wish that I had!  Bricks were not supplied in any classes, and when you’re on your 3rd class of the day, a little extra support would have been greatly appreciated.

10. Moleskin (not pictured) - This was beside my mat all weekend.  With so many amazing instructors at Wanderlust, I was constantly jotting down inspiration and education.  I saw some people using the moleskine app on their iPads instead of notebooks too.

11. Passport & Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm – These aren't must-haves, but they're pretty important if you're a Canadian with a lip balm addiction.

Where can I get the Vinyasa Scarf ?

I got my Vinyasa Scarf at the Lulu in NYC, 66th East! Bought it around the end of May and LOVE IT! I’ve also seen it around in other stores around my hometown in Ottawa, Canada. :) IT IS FANTASTIC! Perfect with any outfit, AND doubles as a cozy wrap for after yoga!

Hey Sandra,
We don’t have the Vinyasa Scarf available online at the moment. This style tends to come in and out of season, so it’s quite possible we will see it again when more of our Fall line comes out.
Thanks for your question,
~Jenna

I have to say I love lululemon but there is a big BUT here. I can’t stand the quick turnover of merchandise and styles. For example, you write an article about things you’d love to have for a festival that is happening right now but one of the items featured is unavailable and won’t be available for months- if it even comes back. I think it’s a greedy way to run a business. One one hand I think it’s great that you keep things interesting and evolving for your customer base but the things that people love, come back for or are just plain popular need to stick around and be available ALL the time. Does this make sense? Does anyone else feel this way?

The Travel Pooch in the picture looks different than the one that is online now. I like this one better — any chance I can still purchase this one?

@Ami – Thanks so much for sharing your feedback, Ami! We can definitely appreciate that it may be frustrating if you’re looking for a product that’s no longer available. Our design team is always working to bring new designs to the floors (every week!) so the hope is that when you find something you love, not everyone will have it, and if you miss something, something you love even better will come along soon.

We share all of the feedback we receive with our design team, so designs that receive a lot of positive feedback sometimes do make a comeback, or we’ll see something similar. We do also have a few core products that are around for all the seasons, but patterns and colours are continuously changing. If there is a particular design that you love, we’d love to hear your feedback (or something you don’t love so much), so please always feel free to reach out to share!

@Mikki – We no longer have that particular style of Travel Pooch available online, but your local store may still have some. If you’d like us to take a look into inventory at one of your local stores, please feel free to give us a call at the Guest Education Centre, 1.877.263.9300, and one of our educators will be happy to help you!

Hey,
I was wondering is there anywhere I can still purchase the wanderlust Rucksack because I can’t find it anywhere on the website. Please bring it back! I really wanted to buy that. Espicially because there are no backpacks in the women’s section and I really don’t want to wear a man’s.

Hi Sea,

We don’t have the Wanderlust Rucksack available anymore but our desingers are always bringing out new products so there’s a good chance that we could see something really similar in the future. I’ll pass along the feedback that you’d love to see it (or something similar) make a comeback.

I would love to see the wanderlust rucksack come back for this summer. I didn’t get a chance to get one last summer and I really love the pack.
