vancouver city guide

vancouver city guide-01

The SeaWheeze Half Marathon is happening August 10 and we are on the countdown. Over 10, 000 locals and out-of-towners will be literally running this town Saturday morning and painting the town Saturday night. We’ve put together a city guide with some of our favourite spaces and places in Vancouver but here are a few more Vancouver gems you will not want to miss.

caffeinate | tableau bar and bistro
loden hotel, 1181 melville street
coal harbour

Tableau Bar and Bistro is a little slice of breakfast heaven toasted, slathered in butter and served with a steaming hot Americano. This small French bistro is located in the lobby of the Loden hotel in Coal Harbour (a stone’s throw from the start line) and offers a Sunday brunch menu worth running for. Croque Monsieur & Frites? Mais oui!

stretch | | one yoga for the people
201-150 west hastings street

Exposed brick, large windows and intimate class sizes makes this yoga studio one of our favourites. One Yoga also has a chill vibe and an amazing sense of community. Check out the 90 minute Yin class on Sunday night (this may just be the best idea we’ve ever had).

spa |  willow stream spa
fairmont pacific rim hotel, 1038 canada place
coal harbour

The Willow Stream Spa is located on the fifth floor of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel and offers a deluxe menu of spa services. White fluffy robes, spa terrace, rooftop hot tubs – this magical oasis is the right choice pre- or post-race.

ride |  stanley park
west end

Biking the Seawall is an amazing way to see Vancouver and Stanley Park is a perfect place to jump on it. With over 1,000 acres of waterfront forest at the edge of downtown, this park literally can’t be missed. Stop and take a walk with the penguins at the Vancouver Aquarium or grab lunch at the Teahouse.

drink |  the keefer bar
133 keefer street

Wallpaper Magazine describes this Chinatown watering hole as “delightfully seedy” and we could not agree more. If you are going to have one drink in Vancouver, make sure you have it at The Keefer Bar. The cocktail program is apothecary inspired and designed to soothe what ails you. Cilantro-infused gin? Bulliet Bourbon? Just what the doctor ordered, right?! We feel better just thinking about it.!

Oh, I wish I were there. We came on a delayed honeymoon to Vancouver in July from Edinburgh, UK, so narrowly missing this and Wanderlust Whistler. we loved Vancouver so much! Left a piece of my heart on the Stanley Seawall…
