wear the perfect pair

For the goods on how to pick the perfect pants for all the ways you sweat, we went straight to our educator Britt. Here's her take on five key silhouettes and when you'll want to wear them, too.

I've been an educator for a long time, and my favourite place to work is still at the pant wall. It's where the party is, and it is always changing thanks to new styles, different fabrics, silhouettes and technical features. When choosing a pant style, I consider the fabric, silhouette and the technical features. With so many options out there, here are a few of my favourite pant silhouettes and what I love about them.

With a tight fit throughout, this silhouette is ready for anything. There's no extra fabric to get in my way whether I'm on my bike or in shoulder stand. Tight is my go-to for any activity because they're simple and all about function. Add in our sweat-wicking and four-way stretch fabric, and my pants take me from my commute to a day at work, to a class and then to drinks with friends all by switching up my mid and outer layers.

With a tight fit that opens up slightly at the calf, this silhouette is the skinny jeans of our technical yoga bottoms. I love this silhouette because I can take it to a super sweaty Vinyasa class and then throw on a soft Vitasea top to take me into my evening without looking like I just got out of the gym.

With a tight fit through the hip that opens up to a straight leg at the thigh, this silhouette is great for when you want a little looser fit through the leg. They're just as functional as our other styles thanks to performance fabrics, but have a more casual fit and feel. This silhouette is a classic, and I still find myself reaching for my straight options for my Hatha classes on the weekend.

With a tight fit that opens up to a slim flare below the knee, this silhouette is a perfect marriage of function and style. This was the first silhouette I fell in love with because they fit over my shoes, but didn't get in my way during sun salutations.

With a loose fit throughout, this silhouette is really cross functional. I love a loose-fitting pant after a serious sweat session because they sit away from my body, which feels so nice after working out in my tight-fitting gear. The loose fit encourages airflow and is great since I continue to sweat after I get off my bike. I also pick loose bottoms in my Yin class paired with a soft tee or sweater to keep warm in cold studios since I'm not building up any heat.

Love all of the outfits in this video! Does anyone perhaps know where the Aztec looking scarf in the “skinny” look is from? It’s beautiful :)

Hi Jane,
Good spot! It’s an older find from Forever 21, which is out of our stylist’s own personal closet.

I love that scarf! Also, could you let us know where the necklace in the “loose” look is from? I think it looks really nice with the lulu gear!

Hi there! Love the video from the top, however, I was wondering what the trick/technique is for rolling up the flare pants like that? Thanks!
