ask a lululemon designer questions

Hi everyone,

it's Alana here from the lululemon online team! I will be helping facilitate tomorrow's chat with Melissa on Facebook and Twitter and making sure we answer as many questions as possible. Thank you to those of you who already asked your question in the comments here or on Facebook. We are excited, too!

Melissa will be answering as many questions as possible, but if your question doesn’t get answered please know that it may be because it requires someone from that specific department to answer. To clarify exactly what kinds of questions Melissa will be best equipped to answer, keep on readin’!

questions melissa can't answer

Anything involving secret sauce. Also: whether specific products will be coming back, future store locations, and/or enhancements to specific current products. This is because each product has its very own department within lululemon, and only someone from that specific department would be able to answer those specific questions. So if you're aching to ask a question about our run shorts, let us know! If we get enough run questions we will bring a run designer online for our next chat. :)

questions melissa can answer

As we mentioned in our introduction, Melissa worked on the product team for three years between production and design as lululemon's full-support, high-impact bra designer and will be able to answer most bra-specific questions. Have a question about how your bra fits or what tank to pair with it? Ask Melissa. Also feel free to ask her about our bra line, her experience as a designer, or what it's like to work on the design/production team. Do you love the Ta Ta Tamer? Guess what, she invented it!

Melissa now manages the lululemon lab - a unique retail/design space based in Vancouver. The lab designs, creates and produces lululemon pieces that you can't buy in regular lululemon locations. Are you wondering if the lab has plans for expansion, what they make, if they plan to sell it online? Come online and ask!

And finally, Melissa is a super friendly and creative person with lots of interesting goals. Read some of her blog posts to get to know her better here.

She's yours for 60 minutes, and very excited to hear from you!

See you tomorrow at 6:30 pm PST!

I was wondering if the remix hoodie lux will ever come back? Is there any chance that light blues (sky blue) may come out?

I would love to see a future chat with one of the run designers – the run line is my favorite and I do have some questions!

Love the top Melissa is wearing…that one deserves production for the masses ;-) (in that color too!) !

Would love to see the Deep V make a come back(for less busty ladies) instead of the Not So Deep V which seems to be for women who don’t want their “girls” popping out— Some of us will never have that problem and LOVE the Deep V which highlights what we do have.
Thanks much—love all that you do!!!

Would it be possible to get full support bras, like the TaTa Tamer, in larger sizes (i.e. 36H)? Us busty girls need a workout bra too.

Melissa, former bra designer and lululemon lab manager will be on tonight (May 12) from 630 to 7 on facebook and 7 to 730 on twitter! She’s ready for all your questions about being a designer, her experience, and the lab!

I would love to see a bra with as much support as the Ta-Ta Tamer, but with a cross back (rather than the shoulder straps like the Ta-Ta). I’ve given this feedback many times (I’m an R&D team member), but I’ll do it again here since I’ve got the Ta-Ta’s designer on point – woohoo!

Most of your tanks are cross-back styles, but none of the cross-back styles are as supportive as the Ta-Ta…we need one! The All-Sport bra is sort of okay in that department, but it’s really just a compression bra – some of our girls need the separation along with being strapped in tight. So please – give us a cross-back bra with some support! My girls (and I’m sure many others’ girls out there) need it!

Will the Over-the-Top jacket make a comeback? I missed out and am having major jacket envy whenever I see one!

Hi Jocelyn!

The Over the Top Jacket was extremely popular and sold out at an astonishing pace! Our designers like to continue to surprise and delight our guests, often this means moving on to the next best thing! Occasionally, we will see some items repeated, but only our designers know which products these will be. We saw the Over The Top Jacket released last August. I would keep an eye on your product notifications so that you are the first to know if we see them, or something similar, again! (If you are not signed up for product notifications, you can do so by clicking on email sign-up at the bottom right of the page.)

Please Please bring back the Hip Pants for us tiny small hipped girls!!!!! The Groove pants come up way to high and are baggy in the waist on small framed/hipped girls. The Hip pants are AMAZING!!! Every time I wear them I have women stop me the street and tell me “they are the best looking pants” and “where did I get them.” Please Please Please bring them back…I only have two pairs and know I am totally going to freak out when they go.

Hi Kerri, thank you so much for you feedback! I don’t know if the Hip Pant will make a reappearance, but I’ll pass it on to our design team that you’d like to seem them, or something similar, again. In the meantime, have you seen our Astro Pant and Crop? The waistband can be folded up or down for a lower or higher rise, so you can choose what works best for you :) Take a look: http://bit.ly/bxF1So

What happened to the Not-So-Deep-V Tank? I love the support and the way it makes “my girls” look good!

Also, will we ever see a mid-length looser fitting luon short? Kind of like the Still short, but a few inches above the knee, but not as short as the Knock Out short.

will you please bring back The Gratitude Wrap? I missed out on getting one & know I’m not the only one.

Please notify me as as soon as you know if you are going to bring back the “Over the Top” Jacket or one that is similar. I absolutely would love to have this jacket! Thanks – Kiki
