why we love this: stride jacket

One of the best parts about our jobs here at lululemon is the up close and personal attention that we get to give our products. For our online community team, product testing is actually a part of our work day! We need to know the ins and outs of the products that we make in order to be able to confidently educate on them. This past week, Elissa put our new Stride Jacket to the test and shares how it stacks up:

Stride Jacket fit session

10. It is looong in the body. It seriously goes the distance, considering I take the prize for the world’s longest torso. Guaranteed to keep those autumn breezes away from my midriff.

9. It has a two-way zipper that allows me to loosen the roomy fit even more.

8. The hood fully commits itself– no chilly ears! Plus, who doesn’t love a hood with a drawstring?!

7. Thumbholes!!! Not only do these keep my sleeves in place when I pull on my Apres Sport Jacket, they also keep my chilly hands cozy. AND thumbholes = jazz hands.

6. Like my good husband Steve, the hood is attached, and will always be there when I need it.

5. The zipper zips waaaaaay up, and sits tight in a cozy zipper garage – no chaffing, no irritation, no big deal. We’ve got you covered.

4. Zippered pockets mean I will never lose my keys or collection of little plastic rectangles. Tres important for between the studio and real world.

Hair tie!

3. The elastic zipper pull moonlights as a hair tie for the times when my bob spontaneously busts into a wee little ponytail (…and it’s strong enough to handle the locks of you ladies that are blessed with stunning thick hair, too).

2. V-E-R-S-A-T-I-L-I-T-Y! I am the queen of practicality and this jacket passes the test. It’s loose enough to layer long-sleeve shirts underneath, and thin enough that it slips easily under any piece of outerwear for an extra layer of warmth.

1. It brings out the silly in me! Laughing is my favorite workout.

Pure product love

P.S. Some extra notes from my fit session:

  • Same great features as all our luon jackets: flat seaming, moisture wicking and totally pre-shrunk
  • Fits generously through the body. If you prefer something a little less roomy, why not go down a size?
  • Sleeves are long, so feel free to cuff those bad boys if you need them out of your way.

Check it out online, visit your nearest store or give us a call at the Guest Education Centre to place a phone order and find out more reasons why we love this jacket.

Great post, Elissa! I love the Stride Jacket too — especially the zippered pockets and its extreme length!

Hi, Love this Stride Jacket in the purple stripe, but I can’t find it on the site to order it. Where can I find it or is unavailable right now.

I got my Stride jacket in Melbourne (so it was bran, brand new!). It was so good I ordered a black one through the Syndey, Mossman store (awesome service!). They are my staples now becasue of all the things mentioned. I can wear them to school (I’m a primary (elementary) school teacher and look stylish and not tooo sporty.

One teeny tiny problem…I wear them both weekly and over the last month or so the seams on the inside of the arms have pilled BADLY. I have to very careful cut all the pilling off every so often and am worried I’ll accidentally snip the seam and cause problems!

Apart from that: best jacket ever, made for my body and to mooooove. Thanks Kiwi in Melbourne, Anusara inspired

This is my favorite jacket in the world. It is so stylish AND functional. The length is perfect and the zipper pockets are very useful. I’ve had the pink one for awhile and just bought the gray one this weekend because I wear the pink one practically everywhere. I had NO IDEA that the zipper pull could be used as a hair tie. I always forget my hair ties… this is genius. Thanks for the info!!

i love love love my stride jackets. i bought two (the striped one and a black one). i tried to buy it in the navy but it sold out. i would have bought another one if it came in that deep deep purple. i love that it’s long, has sleeves that you can roll up, is roomy enough to throw over an untucked dress shirt/blouse while at work, say if you’re cold, and that the fabric is so soft. what i love the MOST about the stride jacket is the two-way zipper. two-way zippers are KEY for me and i wish is that other jackets had the two-way zipper (remix hoodie, shape jacket). i would have tons of lululemon jackets if all of them came with the two-way zipper – a two-way zipper is a deal breaker for me. thank you for making the stride jacket – i hope it becomes a staple for each season b/c i would buy more…

@Alissa, I’m glad you like it so much! That’s exactly how my mom described her Stride Jacket. :) Aren’t the hair ties awesome?!

@Lisa, great feedback! I’ll pass every word on to our design team.

@Susanna, MELBOURNE! Love it, love it. (I honeymooned there!) If you can take your jackets into a store there, they can take a look to see what’s up with your sleeves. Otherwise, give us a call at the GEC. 1-877-263-9300 or email gec@lululemon.com

@all you lovely people trying to find this piece – I have been searching high and low, and it looks like it has danced its way out of all our stores and warehouses. I’ll be letting the design team know just how much you all love it! You can tell them yourselves too! Check out http://www.lululemon.com/feedback/

Until next time,
