wunder under challenge: day 31 with my pants

wunder under base layer pants

Day 31 learnings:

1. lululemon makes amazing black stretchy pants.

Both pairs of my Wunder Unders have stood up to this challenge beautifully. They weren't brand new to begin with but they haven't "aged" either. The color did not fade, the fabric did not stretch out and there has been minimal pilling from abrasion.

2. It IS possible to re-purpose.

Prior to this challenge, much of my closet was "categorized". I would only wear certain pieces for work, play, dressy events, and to work out in. I've started to look at all my clothes differently. Something that I would only have pulled out for "dressy" occasions are starting to see the light of day (Examples: Day 1, Day 15, Day 25) and lululemon pieces that only saw the inside of my gym bag are going with me to work and play (Day 12, Day 14, Day 19).

3. I'm already wearing my yoga/run/work out clothes. I have NO excuse not to get my yoga/run/sweat on

The response I received from this challenge has been overwhelming. To every friend, co-worker, and guest who took the time to have a conversation with me, provide encouragement and support, comment on a post, share their day with me by checking into the blog or ask me how I was doing (I loved the concern fellow co-workers expressed over my hygiene), you are WUNDERful. Your words have added more fuel to my fire at reaching my personal goals in fashion and styling.

I would like to personally thank Alana, Shawna, and Ron for making this all happen EVERY DAY.

Thank you to lululemon Briar Hill ( @lululemonbhill) for sharing your tweets with me.

Note: Do try this at home. No Wunder Unders were hurt during the course of this challenge.

I loved seeing your different Wunder Under looks each day! It was very fun – and fashion inspiring. :) I too, have recently started to blur the lines between my Lulu gear and work clothes – it makes sitting at a desk all day a hundred times more comfy – and honestly, I feel more at home in my skin when I wear my Lulu garments since they not only fit well, but also compliment my shape.
Thanks for the fun posts. I’ll definitely miss seeing your outfits each day.

Okay I’ve still been reading(changed blog names over the wunder-under process). I’m SO going to miss this challenge!! I loved it so much, everyday I could look forward to fashion inspiration to help us look cute, as well as having no excuse to not work out!

I could use your opinion. I wear mostly browns, but am moving towards integrating more black into my wardrobe as well. Do I go for the navy boots or black? ;) You’ve made me obsessed with wunder unders and rain boots.

Congrats on a great 31 day challenge!! I didn’t think I’d be so sucked in but I’ve learned quite a bit (and so have you I see) about lulu’s great Wunder Under pants and their various usages. I’m already looking at my closet very differently thanks to you.

Hope you do another challenge soon!

Congrats again,

Congrats Elim! So impressed with your commitment and creativity, can’t wait to read all your blogs this month :)

Congrats! Your little experiment was awesome and your outfits were so darn cute! Mission accomplished, I just bought my first pair of Wunder Unders crop yesterday, I wore them to hot yoga today and they were amazing! I am usually a shorts only kinda gal, but you had me thinking I could do it and I did! And I got many compliments on them, too. Can’t wait to wear them outside of the gym!

Try another piece for a challenge, I would love to see what else lulu can do for me!

Ashley: I can’t think of a better way to document my first month of 2010 =)

Jessica: I’m in head to toe cotton, and BAGGY pants. I know I’ll be back into my Wunder Unders in no time, but it was nice to be able to choose what style bottom to wear today. My sweater was from Zara a couple years ago and I only pulled it out for summer. Cheers to re-purposing!

Elliebelle: “…I feel more at home in my skin when I wear my Lulu garments…” I loved how you described that.

Ryan: Yay! What will you be using them for? Thanks so much for checking in everyday.

Claudine: I’m excited to be trying something new for February, but I thoroughly enjoyed my challenge. It reignited my creativity and my love of blogging. Don’t be a stranger if you see me!

Katy: Ohhhh…now that’s something to ponder. I had been wanting solid black rain boots when I first started looking but they were sold out everywhere here in Vancouver. I was desperate for a pair and decided the navy was the next best choice.

I have not regretted it. It has worked fine with everything I have paired it with and I very much like the color paired with jeans. But ultimately it does come down to what you would want. Keep in mind that rain boots are an investment and you want to choose a color that you will want to wear over and over again. I hope that helps.

Aleksandra: Thank you so much for following along. We’re bouncing ideas around already, stay tuned =)

I’m so sad that this challenge is over! I looked forward to seeing your outfits everyday. You have such a great sense of personal style and an excellent eye for repurposing pieces in your wardrobe. I’m sure all of us would love to see more of that. I would love love love it if you started a style blog.
Good luck with your future challenges!

We LOVED seeing all your different outfits every day! Thanks for inspiring all of us to look at the clothes we own differently, and showing us that yes, you CAN survive with just two pairs of pants!

Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!

Comment by Katie — February 1, 2010 @ 11:03 pm

Congrats Elim!!! Just curious, where did you get your black boots from? I love them with the wunderunders!!!

Elim, what is the gym bag that you carry? I love it!

Comment by Tori — February 2, 2010 @ 11:37 am

You did great and you looked cute ALL 31 days!

Comment by Hilary — February 3, 2010 @ 1:05 am

Thanks for checking in everyone! I am sad to see this challenge end too…but that just means we’ll have to make room for a new one. Stay tuned!

Zoe: I did start a style blog but I never thought to use it to showcase my personal style on it. That would be the ultimate “do one thing a day that scares you”…I shall try it. http://www.thestyleseen.wordpress.com

Katie: 4 more days until your marathon, best of luck!

Karen: I have on Hunter rain boots. Vancouver is one wet and rainy city, wellies are a must here and this pair has been more than amazing. I waded into the Pacific Ocean in them yesterday!

Tori: Which bag were you looking at?

Comment by Elim — February 3, 2010 @ 2:10 pm

Hi Elim!!!

Wow, you have such amazing personal style! You have inspired me to get out and “sweat once a day” because you showed that there’s no excuse anymore not to get your sweat on. I am now officially purchasing SEVERAL pairs of wunder unders :).
