WHY I DO IT...
I could go on and on about the many reasons I came to yoga and rattle off the profound experiences that have occurred in my life on and off the mat that justify it as such a vital practice to me, but the simple truth is: yoga opens my eyes to the grace of health and happiness. As a student first, I study the science of this life so that I can remain aware of it's subtle abundance and submerge my physical, emotional, or spiritual self into the intensity of each moment as it arises. As a teacher, I am humbled to be in the position to convey that same discipline to the incredible students that grace my classes. In a great paradox, the more I try to grow into either of these roles separately, the more they cycle into one another. And I LOVE that! I love being surprised by the teacher in everyone and I love constantly cultivating space for learning in myself. Don't get me wrong, this particular path is, well, volatile...but damn its interesting and fun(er)! So the truth remains that we all journey this way; sort of stumbling around the world, clumsily trying to organize our journeys to fulfill our personal legends and somehow, by some measure of hope, effect positive change in the precious lives of others. Yoga...Kung Fu & Martial Arts...they are everywhere, in everything and every breath...disciplines that are woven into every aspect of my relationship with myself and my interaction others, designing an interesting tapestry of life. I only hope to inspire others to open a deeper set of eyes to the evolution that is possible in their own lives, through the example of my own.
