Robbie graduated from UNC-Charlotte, studying Sociology and Religious Studies, before spending the next 12 years traveling the world as a flight attendant. The tragedy of 9/11 brought her to the mat emotionally drained, physically exhausted, and mentally scarred. Her love, passion and respect for Yoga began to blossom as she dove into the deeper aspects, realizing a gym environment no longer served her needs. As she began attending Yoga studios, near and far, she discovered the healing power of Yoga and the multiple possibilities if offers. Wanting to share her experience with others, she obtained both her yoga and meditation certifications from The Expanding Light in Nevada City, CA.
She taught at One2Yoga in Donelson, TN for 5 years, as well as teaching Ananda Yoga for a brief period at 12 South Yoga. She has served on the Board of Directors of Yoga Society Nashville, and is proud to say many of the Half Moon Yoga instructors, past & present, have also voluntarily served on the board, which helps build "community over competition". She has certification in Prenatal & Yin Yoga, and is currently working on her 500 hour credits through Asheville Yoga Center. She also recently attended the comprehensive foundation YogaKids training, and is lucky to be sharing the gift of Yoga at Spring Hollow Community Learning Center for ages 3-6 in Franklin. With a passion for Corporate Yoga, Robbie sees firsthand how beneficial it is for companies to offer Yoga onsite, and is hoping to expand this avenue within the immediate area.
Her teaching style promotes living Yoga, and going above and beyond just the physical aspects of the practice. Robbie plans her classes so that there is always some "spiritual food", whether it's through yogic philosophy, insightful quotes, or personalizing the affirmations. Her teaching style is strongly influenced by her own teachers, Gyandev & Diksha McCord, whom she still studies with. Robbie has also had the pleasure to practice under Erich Schiffman, Judith Lasater, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, David Williams, Rodney Yee, and others.
Robbie's approach to teaching touches the heart and soul. One of her favorite yogic quotes is by B.K.S. Iyengar, "Your body is the bow, the asanas are the arrows, and the target is the soul"!
