Carmen is native to Halifax although spent many years away from the Canadian East Coast exploring, evolving and just living. Her journeys took her to New Zealand and then to the fast paced city of London. At the time her running shoes were always laced on her feet- running competitively in many long distance challenges. With the fast pace of life she found she was soon searching for a more quieting retreat, and with her first trip to India her shoes were unlaced and her bare feet became planted on her yoga mat, and have not left. Celia Peters

Since running her first race at the age of seven, Celia knew that she was meant to run. The joy and love of competition that she first discovered on that day has fuelled her on her journey of becoming an elite track and field athlete with particular interest in the 800m. This journey has allowed Celia to compete at multiple National and International competitions, most notably a European racing circuit, multiple CIS National Track and Field Championships, Canadian National Championships and Olympic Trials, and multiple Canada Summer Games. This year she has decided to fully take a leap, as a full time athlete and pursue her dream of representing Canada in the 800m. Growing up working and playing outdoors, Courtney developed a deep connection to the Earth and the beings that inhabit it. This sense of unity permeates Courtney’s actions both on and off her mat. Elana’s childhood provided the foundation for a lifelong love of physical activity and sport. In her youth, Elana became a devoted freestyle skier, with her primary focus on the acrobatic aspect of the sport. Elana represented Ontario in competitions throughout North America and competed alongside some of the best skiers in the world. Elana combined her physical passion for sports and athletics by taking a Kinesiology degree at The University of Western Ontario. While studying, she found a new passion that could satisfy her athletic pursuits and giving to others – teaching! Sharing her love of physical activity became both her joy and her avocation. Leslie Hunter was born practicing yoga. Raised on a farm in a small rural Nova Scotia town, Leslie hung upside-down from the branches of apple trees to see the world from a different viewpoint. Attending Saint Mary's University in Halifax to study the Sociological make-up of human culture then moving to Toronto to study Public Relations and how to communicate with this culture, eventually led her to the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts, to practice the embodiment and performance of Truth. Ryan has always had a love of sports and fitness growing up. He played varsity volleyball while studying exercise physiology in the Sport and Leisure program at Holland College. While studying there to become a personal trainer, Ryan was introduced to Ufit and unexpectedly found himself teaching group fitness, he gave it a chance and it soon became his passion. Combining dance, aerobics, and strength training, Ufit offers the most fun anyone can have while working out. After helping thousands of people on Prince Edward Island reach their fitness goals, Ryan moved to Halifax in 2009 to work as a personal trainer and fitness assessor. Tammy Mercier

Tammy began running at the age of 8 years old, she began running as a way to alleviate stress from downtown living and all the other pressures of 'growing up'. Slowly, Tammy began doing long distance running and her first marathon was at the age of 29. Over the last 12 years, Tammy has completed 59 marathons, 15 Cabot Trail Relays, approximately 60 Half-Marathons and has 7 marathon wins under belt. In 2008, Tammy won the Nova Scotia Marathon Championship. Not only did she win for the women's field, but beat out all the men as well. At the age of 40, she has just run the Toronto marathon, finishing 19th overall and 6th for her new age category of Masters.
