Celia Peters

Since running her first race at the age of seven, Celia knew that she was meant to run. The joy and love of competition that she first discovered on that day has fuelled her on her journey of becoming an elite track and field athlete with particular interest in the 800m. This journey has allowed Celia to compete at multiple National and International competitions, most notably a European racing circuit, multiple CIS National Track and Field Championships, Canadian National Championships and Olympic Trials, and multiple Canada Summer Games. This year she has decided to fully take a leap, as a full time athlete and pursue her dream of representing Canada in the 800m.
Celia is the current Nova Scotia Junior Women’s record holder in the 600m, Dalhousie record holder in the 800m and 1000m and has been honored with awards such as Dalhousie University Female Athlete of the Year, AUS Female Track and Field Athlete of the Year, and AUS Track and Field MVP. This summer she also qualified for the final at the Canadian National Track and Field Championship which placed her on the starting line with Canada’s best competitors.
In 2010 Celia established multiple personal best performances. She is particularly excited about her new personal best in the 800m (2.05.26) established at last summer’s American Milers Series in Indianapolis. Celia also established two new indoor PB’s at the 2010 CIS Indoor Championships where she also earned silver (600m) and bronze (1000m) medals for her efforts. Celia is also a bronze medalist in the 800m at the 2009 Canada Summer Games.
While pursuing her dream of one day representing Canada at the Olympics, she has received a degree in International Development Studies and Business from Dalhousie University and also continues to contribute to several community involvement initiatives. One of Celia's goals is to use her knowledge of development and sport hand in hand.
