Started Practicing Yoga: 1999
Became Teacher: 2002 (Bikram's Yoga College of India)
How I got into yoga:
After a car accident in 2003, I was diagnosed with a disc herniation in my lower back. I wasn't able to sit upright, I could only lie on the floor with my feet elevated. My doctors told me I would eventually have to undergo back surgery - which I didn't like the sound of. I had fallen out of my yoga practice, became weak, lazy and tired. Everyone was telling me something different. My chiropractor said I needed adjustments, my physical therapist said I needed to do elliptical running, my neurosurgeon said I needed to make an appointment to cut out the disc, and my Yoga teacher was telling me, "Lock the Knee!"
I found that yoga was the only remedy with lasting results. The stronger and more flexible I became, the more the pain went away. I am to this day self treating my injuries with the help of Hot yoga.
I opened a studio in the suburbs of Chicago on Jan. 24th 2004 so my family and I could practice everyday. In 2008, I opened up Hot Yoga Nimitz in Honolulu, HI. Since then, I've been training, studying and testing out the best ways to heal the body & mind.
My class:
Moves at a good pace and is good for beginners. I can make class fun, relaxing and still have a great workout for the mind & body.
My latest trainings have been:
Bikram Yoga Training: 2002 (Bikram's Yoga College of India)
Yin Yoga Anatomy & Training: 2010 (Paul Grilley's Anatomy & Training)
Bishnu's Advanced Series: 2010 (Tony Sanchez Adv. Workshop)
Power Yoga Emerson Retreat in Tulum, Mexico (2011, Bryan Kest)
