Elyse is the founder of CrossFit 808. Her passion for life and sports have led her in many directions--from dancing and gymnastics as a child, to playing basketball in high school and college, helping Punahou School to a state basketball championship and Princeton to an Ivy League title.
Before moving home to Hawaii and opening her own CrossFit gym, Elyse was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where they finished the season with 23 wins and only 11 losses.
More recently though, Elyse's passion has been CrossFit. Elyse is a top female athletes in the CrossFit Games. While she is one of the smaller female competitors, she has never let that stand in the way. Last year she placed 11th at the 2010 CrossFit Games. This year she earned a sponsorship for the Games with Rogue Fitness as well as ambassadorship with Lululemon Athletica Ala Moana. In the 2011 CrossFit Games Open she finished 4th in the world and advanced to the Regional, where she took 1st place and earned a spot at the 2011 CrossFit Games.
Beyond competition, Elyse loves coaching CrossFit to individuals and groups of all ages and fitness levels. She is very passionate about helping others live better through fitness and nutrition. Her CrossFit gym, located in Honolulu, which she built out and designed herself, reveals her passion for making people better. The walls and windows are plastered with motivational blurbs, her favorite being, "You can have excuses or results, not both."
“CrossFit has changed my life for the better. Since I began CrossFitting in March of 2008 I have become stronger, faster, and better than I was playing college basketball. I feel good and have done things I never thought possible. I can’t wait to see how CrossFit will change your life and help you find the best you!”

Elyse’s favorite quote:
