Kate Baldwin is originally from Virginia Beach, VA. She took her first yoga class in 2001, however it wasn't until a medical scare in early 2006 that she committed herself to healing her body through yoga. She began her yoga practice with The Barkan Method hot yoga series. In spring 2006, Kate received a 200 hour certification from the Yandara Yoga College, and a 2nd 200 hour certification from The Barkan Method. Shortly after she received a certification from The Barkan Method Level 2/Vinyasa teacher training. Kate has completed over 1000 hours of continued education training through conferences and workshops across the country and across the globe, recently attending the 2008 International Yoga Conference in Rishikesh. Her training and studies include Basic Hatha, Hot Yoga, Hot Vinyasa, Advanced Vinyasa, Iyengar alignment, Bhakti/Devotional Yoga, Yoga Philosiphy and Sanskrit. Kate is certified in Thai Yoga Therapy and is also an ordained minister. She finds her strongest influence within the teachings of Jimmy Barkan, Saul David Raye, and Rolf Gates. Her inspiration lies within the true path of yoga, the power of the body, and the capacity of the heart.

As well as a practitioner of Hatha, Raja and Bhakti Yoga, Kate is a Karma Yogi as well. She has been incredibly active in her community through such organizations as Team in Training, Make A Wish Foundation, Whitman Walker Clinic, Volunteers for the Visually Handicapped, and a number of others. She encourages others to find the same peace through service and altruism.
