At the age of 25, I discovered the wonderful world of fitness and quickly realized I loved all types of fitness. I began as a fitness instructor, teaching step and cardio-pump. I loved the participants and the atmosphere of group fitness; the energy is so unreal and exciting. After a while I started running and quickly became hooked. My running career began very small and within a few years I ran my first half marathon and continued with full marathons. However, just running was not enough to fulfill my fitness itch, so ten years ago I entered the world of triathlons. I joined Kingston Multisport club and completed many triathlons around the Kingston area. The triathlon community is so positive and very family-oriented. In 2008, I completed my first Ironman in Lake Placid, NY. The Ironman has been my hardest and most proud fitness accomplishment so far. Then, after a lower back injury two years ago, I decided to try out Bikram yoga and never turned back.
Together with my mom and brother, we own three fashion apparel stores in Kingston and Brockville. I have been involved in the business for 25 years, and it has been growing ever since. Owning a business is very fulfilling, we get to travel a lot and purchase lots of different merchandise. Although the journey has not been the easiest, it has been amazing.
I could not do anything without my support system; my wonderful husband of 27 years and three beautiful daughters have always been there cheering me on. Nothing makes me more proud than my girls; they are my biggest joy in my life. They are the wind beneath my wings. I also have a strong faith in God and believe that with a positive attitude doors will open up and opportunities will come your way.
