Owner and founder of The Urban Athlete, Matt has been on a journey in the fitness industry for many years and highly experienced and skilled in coaching movement.
Matt's love of fitness started at an early age when he played County Rugby, Tennis, Athletics and Football . At the age of 17, he packed up and set off for California where he became a snowboard instructor, this is where his love of coaching all began. From there he went on to join the military and excelled during his time there. He was awarded the best at physical training during basic training and also attained the coveted Green Beret during his time with 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines (29 Cdo Regt RA). Matt had to leave the army after a serious injury to his shoulder which left him unable to serve in his full role and set up his own personal training business and has since coached in locations all over the globe.
Matt places in the top of his field in running events and has twice competed at the World Kettlebell Championships, bringing home both gold and bronze medals.Matt has completed many Ironman Triathlons and completed many Ultra Endurance running races. Matt also loves to train Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and has recently started to compete.
Kristie is co founder of The Urban Athlete, a fitness trainer and nutritionist, she works closely with Matt to spread The Urban Athlete word.
Kristie has a BA Hons Degree in Nutrition in Clinical Dietetics, she is a functional nutrition practitioner and has studied with The Institute of Functional Medicine and completed the Poliquin Biosignature Method here in UK .
Kristie specialises in weight loss, IBS, sports nutrition, improving energy levels and eating for performance both at work and play.
Kristie has competed in amateur triathlon where she placed the top of her age group for many years running, on two occasions being awarded the junior ACT Triathlete of the Year. She held a sports scholarship at Sydney University, winning the Australian University Games in 2005 and Australian Long Course Championships in 2006. Kristie competed in 2011 in the World Kettlebell Championships in New York, taking home a gold medal in her category and now loves competing in off road running where she recently placed 4th female overall in a her first off road marathon in a number of years. Like Matt, Kristie has worked all over the globe as a coach and nutritionist and really loves what she does!
