What’s your full name?

Angela Peters

Where did you grow up?

St. Catharines, ON

When and where did you first fall in love with yoga, sports or athletics? How did you get involved? How did it make you feel when you first began?

I was always involved in team sports growing up. There were never any girls in my neighbourhood so I developed a very competitive spirit at a young age and loved when I could out throw or out run the boys. I got my first gym membership when I was 16 and loved the weight room - I have always hated cardio! I found weight training to be so empowering & confidence building and became addicted to the feeling pretty quick.

What is your background (education, training, etc) that allows you to do what you do today? How could somebody else learn to do what you do?

I have my BSc in Health Sciences, CanFitPro Certified Personal Trainer & Nutrition + Wellness, completing my designation as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN) through CSNN. I think the first step would be to find a role model in the industry (whether online or in person) and have a coffee (or green juice) date. It's important that you know who you are, who your ideal client would be and then find someone who is rocking that role that you could connect with.

What do you appreciate most about London and its community?

I love our vibrant Forest City - so much greenspace and opportunities all around us to be active & get outdoors. I think the health community here is amazing - the business owners, the studios - so much talent! And I feel blessed to raise our young girls here - we love to run the trails and shop at all the different markets.

What is the most important thing you would tell a beginner in your field?

In order to truly inspire & influence, you must live it every day, because that is by far the biggest piece of coaching. The health industry is massive, very competitive and unfortunately is always spewing conflicting information. If someone is looking to be successful in this industry - that is what I would say to them. Live it first and success will come.

How do you cultivate a regular, useful practice yourself? What do you do on a daily basis that supports your pursuit?

As a busy mom and business owner, effective planning is key to ensuring that my personal health ins't compromised when the schedule heats up. I lay the groundwork for a successful week every Sunday. I plot a variety of workouts into my calendar and do meal prep + planning for the week. My practice comes in the form of a daily sweat, a green drink, food as nature intended & lots of cuddles with my girls!
