Since then, Avi has spent a few months every year for the last 6 years in Mysore, India, studying at the Ashtanga Yoga Nilayam with Sri. K. Shari Berman began her 13 year intimate relationship with Ashtanga in 1998. As she came to the daily practice, as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) of Mysore, India, she found her first community in NYC with Eddie Stern. In 2006 she left NY and moved to Mysore, India for 1 1/2 years to further her studies with Guruji and his family, Sharath, Saraswati and Manju. She has been traveling back to Mysore to study with the Jois' for 3-4 months every year or so since. She brings back from India a love of Ayurveda, chanting, Sanskrit, Indian cooking and a small understanding of a sweet culture based on the love of God and each other.
