Alexandra Buss is a second generation instructor of Joseph H. Pilates. She has practiced Pilates for fourteen years and has been a certified Pilates instructor for six years. Upon graduation from The Madeira School in 1999, she went on to attend Goucher College. Alexandra graduated from Goucher College in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree awarded with distinction in Dance Performance and Choreography. After dancing professionally throughout the Washington DC area, she completed a rigorous, comprehensive Pilates teacher training program at Excel Movement Studios. Down Dog Yoga

For years, Alison played with various forms of yoga, always knowing something great was waiting there for her. Finally, during a period in life full of challenges, she picked up a brochure that read: “40 Days to transform your life”. Well, it worked—yoga changed her life as she knew it. Since then, having studied with many instructors, in various styles, it was the Power Vinyasa practice which resonated most in her. Alison went on to complete a 200-hour Vinyasa certification with Down Dog Yoga, followed by Level 1 and Level 2 teacher training with Baron Baptiste. She now feels it is time to share her life changing experience with others and to spread the power of transformation through yoga. Asuka was born in Tokyo, Japan and then raised in Okinawa until the age of 12, when she moved to the US. She was introduced to Latin Dance when she was working in a Bolivian restaurant in Manassas, Va. Her friends from the restaurant took her to a Latin Club for the first time and she was blown away. She knew she had to learn more, so she kept going and with the help of her girlfriends who made it fun, she quickly picked up the dances. She started teaching Zumba and learned even more as she taught the classes – despite not being able to do half the moves when she started. Within a year of teaching Zumba, Asuka became a Zumba Master Trainer certifying local instructors and co-starring in the Zumba DVDs. After becoming involved in triathlons in college, Northern Virginia native Bob hit the inevitable working man's slump in his mid-20s as he worked long hours on the Capitol Hill staff of a U.S. Congressman. After taking a new job (with less hours), he began rededicating himself to fitness; competing in countless road races, marathons, and triathlons. During a particularly long and harsh winter where he couldn't train outdoors, he found solace in group fitness classes at the gym. Realizing his passion for the sport and teaching, he took the plunge and became a cycling instructor. Ha started her yoga career at Dancing Mind Yoga in 2009 under the mentorship of Paula Baake. At DMY she took Level I Intensive Teacher Training Program, the Teacher’s Mentorship Program, Teacher’s Assistant Program (TAP), DMY’s 200 HR Teacher Training Program (200 HR TT) and 40 Days to Personal Revolution. Also, Ha is under the mentorship of Mr. Baron Baptiste and has attended his Level I and Level II Teacher Training (TT) Bootcamp. “Yoga has transformed who I am into a more authentic and powerful person. Heather did her yoga training at Dancing Mind Yoga; a Baptiste Power Vinyasa affiliate studio. When she started doing yoga her life started to change. Heather cannot begin to express her gratitude to the yoga lifestyle. “I realized that things that came out on my mat also show up in my life.” She now teaches at East Meets West Yoga Center. As an instructor, she loves to guide her students through a powerful practice that focuses on breath and flow. Jessica became a certified run coach to enhance and deepen her knowledge of the sport. “I’m always soaking up whatever information I can - reading books, magazine articles, blogs, talking with other runners both in my real life and in the social media world.” The RRCA coaching certification was an extension of all of that. One of Jessica’s dreams is to help others achieve their running goals. Jessica came to her mat in 2004 seeking to find a sustainable workout and became a dedicated Vinyasa student. Four years later, she lost her job in the housing crisis and became a full time student of yoga. The next year she would attend an immersion and teacher training with Baron Baptiste and travel to the holy lands of Rishikesh, Haridwar and Vrindavan, India to explore the spiritual roots of yoga.
