Dawn is a Certified Hatha Yoga Instructor from the Kripalu tradition. She has been involved in sports and physical activity most of her life, however, she always felt that something was missing. It was in the year 2000 that she found herself drawn to yoga. Shortly thereafterafter, Dawn realized the potential for the spiritual fulfillment that she had unknowingly yearned for.
In 2005 Dawn traveled to South East Asia where she visited a Buddhist monastery and completed a Vipassana meditation retreat. When she combined both Hatha yoga and Buddhist meditation, she felt profound results and an intense happiness that she immediately wanted to share with others.
Upon Dawn's return to Montreal, she began an instensive Yoga Teacher Training with Hart Lazer. Since then, she has been continuing her Yoga education, studying with exceptional teachers such as Maalaa for Kids’ Yoga, Janice Clarfield for Pre-Natal Yoga, and Kelly McGrath for training in the Kripalu tradition,. Additionally, Dawn had been granted a partial scholarship for the first ever 18-month Mindfulness Yoga and Buddhist Meditation Training Program with inspirational North American teachers such as Phillip Moffit, Anne Cushman, Mark Coleman, Jack Kornfield, and Stephen Cope.
Since becoming a Yoga teacher in 2005, Dawn has been fortunate enough to teach at some of Montreal's most recognized yoga studios, including the Joy of Yoga Studio, Spa Zazen, Studio Bliss, and The Institute of Yoga and Meditation. Additionally, Dawn was chosen as an Ambassador for Lululemon for the year 2008.
Aside from pursuing her passion in Yoga, Dawn has also fervently pursued raising awareness about global issues. She is creator of the ecological group Better Half, in which she communicates weekly with approximately 500 members. Dawn also organized "108 Sun Salutations for Our Environment" in August 2007, in which almost $2000 was raised and donated to Greenpeace.
Prior to discovering yoga, Dawn was voted her high school Female Athlete of the Year 2 years in a row (1996, 1997) and played competitively, up to Provincial levels, Track and Field, Field Hockey, and Basketball. Dawn ended her athletic career as MIP for the AAA Dawson Blues basketball team, however she still remains active today.
Dawn has a big heart, which is always evident through her contagious smile. She is generous, down to earth, and always makes her students feel welcome and at home.
