Lifetime Fitness
Dottie always had interest in health and fitness, but her total commitment to and love for fitness was enhanced in 2004 when she joined Lifetime Fitness and began to take part in group fitness classes. Not long after joining, her dedication was recognized by group fitness instructors and participants alike, and she was offered a job as an instructor.
Dottie’s favorite class to teach is kickboxing. Kickboxing provides a fast paced, cardio intense, total body workout that tones the body and strengthens muscles. It was developed from three separate disciplines; martial arts, aerobics, and boxing. Rather than challenging competitors, cardio kick-boxers challenge themselves to improve their overall fitness. It has numerous benefits for both physical and mental health.
After spending the previous 15 years of her life raising a family, it was time for Dottie to pour her focus into her fitness and into helping others to reach higher levels of personal fitness. She accomplishes this through a combination of a fun, socially interactive teaching style, and by pushing her “peeps” as she calls them to new personal levels in a high intensity program. Her energy and “fun” style has not only brought great numbers of participants to the club, but she has also been featured in a cable TV program as a result of a particular “peep’s” enthusiasm, and was subsequently offered to have her own show!
Dottie has a finance degree from Holy Angel University. When Dottie is not working out or teaching a class at the club, she is spending time with her family and watching her children take part in NCAA and high school athletics.
Dottie and husband Mark have been married for 23 years. Daughter Kristen is a college ice hockey player and a senior at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD (Mark is also an Annapolis grad). Son Joey attends the School of Business at University of Illinois, Champaign, and was captain of his varsity high school football and ice hockey teams a year ago. Son Louie, a senior in high school is captain of his varsity ice hockey team as well. And the youngest member of the family, Bo is a proud Pomeranian!
