Beverly started running consistently in college as a way to manage stress stay healthy. She found that it provided her with much more. Running moved away from something she should do, to something she could not do without. As her love for pounding- the- pavement grew, she started running longer and longer distances. She ran her first marathon at Disney in 2010, raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since then she has completed four marathons, as well as many other distance races. She continues to enjoy running long distances, the sense of accomplishment it provides, and the challenges it presents. She loves to run in the community to gain inspiration from local runners, build relationships, and motivate others.
For Bev, running provides a sense of peace, control, freedom, and contentment. Running is a time where she can let go, be open, and experience the world. Additionally, she dedicates her time to her career as an occupational therapist, her volunteer work for the American Society of Hand Therapists, her friends, her family, and her dog ‘Luna’. She believes that we are all capable of more than we could imagine, and that sharing our passions with others help us accomplish our dreams.
Favorite Running Quote:
"I run because it's so symbolic of life. You have to drive yourself to overcome the obstacles. You might feel that you can't. But then you find your inner strength, and realize you're capable of so much more than you thought." ?--Arthur Blank
