Jessalynn Hakanson - ALUMNI

Several moons ago, Jessalynn stumbled into a yoga class in Colorado and fell down dog… heels over head in love with a yoga practice. She has been practicing yoga for almost ten years and learning from her students for the past six years. For approximately two years, the Yoga Center of Minneapolis provided a foundational education and teacher training with the opportunity to study various disciplines such as vinyasa, ashtanga, kriya, restorative, prenatal and postnatal yoga. Jessalynn is indebted to her teachers in Minneapolis and all her students along the way. Jessalynn is inspired by cherished experiences with senior teachers such as Shiva Rea, Dharma Mittra, Sean Corn, Tias Little, Rod Stryker, Larry Shultz, and Doug Swenson, and Simon Park.

Jessalynn brews a class inspired by the ebb and flow of a juicy vinyasa practice that cultivates body awareness through a sturdy bond between the breath and movement. Jessalynn aspires for her students to seek the sweet and spice of their yoga practice with a dash of laughter and a pinch of sweat!

A background in dance, fitness, massage therapy & bodywork, and experience in recreational therapy complement her sincere passion for yoga. She holds a high regard to the “wholistic” connection and integrative health. Jessalynn's massage therapy skills and techniques include Swedish, Trigger Point therapy, and Deep Tissue Massage. She also has completed both Level one and Level two of the Thai Yoga Bodywork Basics Program through Tanya Boigenzahn in Minneapolis, and continues to study this modality.

Jessalynn is especially thankful for the connection she made with Tom and Daphne Larkin in India while studying with Shiva Rea. She is incredibly grateful to Tom and Daphne for inviting her into such a lovely space and brilliant yoga family, who have graciously offered open hearts and minds to her presence. She feels fully embraced by the Sanctuary community as her family as they have shown her & her family so much love & support.
